Who, besides Glock, makes a high end 10mm SA Pistol?

I have been doing alot of reading over the last 5-6 months on 10mm. I used to own a .357 Magnum and loved it. I want something with more rounds, so I am looking to get a 10mm Semi-auto. I have only found Glock. I would like to fire a couple different ones to see which has the best fit.

I'm looking for Glock, H&k, Sig and FNH quality. Not the $200-$300 pcs. Any ideas?

I haven't kept up with firearm production, but I don't know of any others in current production. Smith and Wesson used to make one and Colt used to make the Delta Elite, but both were single-stack pieces. The Bren Ten was supposed to be double-stack, but I don't know if the magazines ever did become available. All of those seem to be more collector's items than shooters any more. On the plus side, the Glock 20 is still around, and it's still my favorite handgun for serious use.

S&W made several variations of the Model 1006.

Dan Wesson lists a 1911 in 10mm

EAA makes one, but I'd pass.

If you liked the .357 so much and want more rounds, consider an 8-shot S&W Model 627

If it has to be a 10mm, look at both the Glock 20 and 20-SF to see which one fits you best.

I think for a new gun, you will be limited to Glock, EAA and Dan Wesson, as I think they are the only ones still making 10mm pistols. There were at least a few others in the past, including Colt, but the 10mm just never took off in popularity.

If you are would like an auto pistol round specifically designed to match the balistics of the .357 Magnun, you might want to check out the .357 SIG. Its no where near as popular as the 9mm-.40-.45 trinity, but its still more popular than the 10mm, and easier to find guns for. Glock, S&S, Springfield Armory, and of course SIG all make more than model in .357 SIG.

What's wrong with the good ol' .45? There's not much on this green Earth that a .45 caliber pill won't make dead. Sig P220 or Glock 21 FTW!

Colt reintroduced the Delta Elite this year, Dan Wesson, Fusion Firearms, Vltor is scheduled to bring out the new Bren Ten (with mags this time) around early 2010.

Or you could get a Para Ordnance P16-40, the swap in a 10mm Fusion barrel and have a 1911 hi-cap. Just built one for a customer and he loves it. btw- swap in a 20lb. Wolff
recoil spring.

I shot quite a few IPSC matches with both the 20 and 21, and I had consistently better scores with the 10mm. Besides, with a Plus 2 floorplate on a pre-Clinton mag and one in the chamber, I've got 18 Wincheser Silvertips in hand. Anything that won't handle will require air support. ;)

That sums it up. Many people don't realize the power level the 10mm is on. It's in the range of the old .41 Magnum loads. Loaded properly it can beat the .45 ACP by 300+ foot pounds.

I've been contemplating a commander 10mm as my next custom 1911 build. That of course hinges on me finishing the Ar-15 build, the first 1911 build, the OTHER AR-15 build... I need to actually finish one of these things.

And if you like to tinker and experiment, .357sig guns tend to only require a barrel change to become .40 sw's.

Check out Taurus.
They have more choices of frame size and alloy and weight and caliber than any other manufacturer anywhere these days.
Go to Taurus firearms on the net and view their on line catalog and new guns for 2009.
They have 10mm if you insist on spending too much for the ammo you shoot, and they have the most practical and popular pistol sold to day...the JUDGE...a 5 shot revolver that chambers both "45 long Colt" AND 410 shot gun shells (including 000buckshot loads with 5 pellets each equivalent to a 357 bullet).
Check out gunblast.com for some honest reviews of a variety of guns.
And happy shooting.

I have a Sig P226 in .40 and have the .357 sig barrel for it. I like the extra power and velocity the 10mm has. I'm sure a Ruger in .357 mag. will become a part of my pistol collection. For now, a semi auto is the next purchase.

S&W currently lists two revolvers in 10mm. Of course they'll require half or full moon clips. If memory serves, these will also shoot 40 cal. They are:
Model 610, N frame, 6 shot, adjustable sight, in 3 & 7/8 or six inch barrel lengths. Dealer price $672.50.
Model 310 Nightguard, alloy frame, six shot, fixed sights, 2.5 nch barrel, front is night sight. Dealer price $745.50.

Colt lists a new Delta Elite, Model 02020. 5 inch barrel, 8 round mags, dealer price $798.95.

I didn't see any 10mm models currently listed by HK or Taurus

Look at Kimber if you like them. The Eclipse is a very nice platform.

Many people also love the EAA pistols. I don't have any experience with them.

I like the Para idea with the barrel switch, that sounds like it has some potential.

I really like the 10mm myself. Lot of power in a portable package.

Another option is to buy a .45 and purchase a .400 CorBon barrel to go with it. That round is a .45 case necked down to a .40 so only the barrel needs to be changed, similar to the .40S&W/.357Sig. There are barrels available for the Glock 21, HK USP, XD and 1911 and there may be other ones as well.

The .400CB has similar bullet weight and ballistics to the 10mm....in fact in one of the CorBon loadings it eclipses the 10mm by 50fps for the same bullet weight (165gr).

.357sig in a 5in barrel, I'd take it over a 10mm any day.
