I’ve got an Al Mar SERE that I want to add a thumb notch/catch onto. I want to do one like on my Emerson CQC 7. I’m sure the prospect of altering the knife will upset some but I carry it daily and will continue to do so. Therefore I want it as useful as possible. I will also be taking it on deployments so the speed of opening will be more helpful with a notch. Anyways, I don’t really know who does this sort of work on knives so any suggestions would be great!! I really just need someone who can drill and tap the hole to attach the catch on the back of the blade. I tried to put a picture of both to show what I’m looking for but this site refuse to let me add pictures.

Would something like a Kwik Thumb Bar work for you? That would be inexpensive and easily reversible. I thought there was also a similar thumb disc mechanism that may be more what you were looking for, but now I can't find it.

Wait, rereading it sounds like you're talking about a wave shaped feature?

If so, look up Snaggletooth Tactical. If the SERE has removable thumbstuds, that will work.

I would go with the snaggletooth. My method would drastically alter that model.

Honestly I have no idea. I’ll order one and find out though! And not the save feature just the stud. All the SERE had is the thumbnail cutout
