Who can recommend a decent sow belly?

I like the blade combination (unusual for a sowbelly) on that Winchester. Is it 2 or 3 springs ?

Nice! What's the thickness of that one? I don't have the 3 backspring version and am wondering how it compares to the regular 3- and 5- blade Winchester (Queen) sowbellies. Also, could you post a photo of the well with the blades closed?

It's about 1/2" in width.

Next to the 5 blade...

Is that what you needed Jake?

I've had my eye on a Case Sowbelly for about 2 months. I ended up ordering a Case Sowbelly CV Chestnut from one of those popular sites because I noticed that they had one that was supposedly damaged and had been returned. I took the gamble and got it for $37. When I received it was in mint condition! The box had a tear in it lol.... That was it.

I freaking love it. The only gripe I have is when holding the knife tight with the main blade open the sheeps foot is so thin it can be a bit painful. It will dig into the palm. Still love it though and I've been carrying it since I got it.

Sak...identity is not lost

I see a battle. Some guy gets a shot off, drops his Chester and then it becomes hand to hand. Knife in hand. His rifle gets pressed into the damp earth as an intense struggle continues, in a desperate move the Winchester gets picked up to use as a club...who knows how it ends.

wow, whats in my coffee?

That'd be caffeine and lots of it. Yesss.:D

I love this thread gentlemen! Can anyone tell me if there is, or has been, a high quality sow-belly that measures in a little shorter than the usual 3 3/4"? I like around 3 1/2" knives, maybe 3 5/8". I really want a sow-belly, but it seems to be a "bigger" pattern. Maybe it has to be because of the shape? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

3 3/4 is pretty standard size for a sowbelly but there are smaller German-made Bulldog sowbellies. Mike at Collector Knives had a few but I'm not sure if he still does. I almost forgot...Fight'n Rooster had a few small sowbellies and Rough Rider makes a small sowbelly also.

Jake,

thank you very much for showing those two, definitely both to my liking in fit, finish, and size. My favorite shield that I've never owned on both. Gorgeous!
