I don't know if emery cloth is graded the same in Romania as it is here in the US, but I find the fine grit, which is called 4/0 and is about an 800 mesh grit, is excellent for putting and maintaining a satin finish on blades. Emery cuts particularly fast, use it with some WD40 sprayed on it for best results. Thanks Richard!
The scratches are not deep, they look sort of bad only on artificial light.
It shouldn't bother me, I use this knife a lot.
There aren't professionals or good stores out here (Romania...), I'll try to order some sort of cloth.
Regards,
John
I like to go perpendicular to the edge. Here's a photo of a Kershaw Junkyard Dog II which I shortened the blade and took down the spine a bit, then did with 4/0 emery cloth:I actually have some 1200 emery cloth and wd40 at home, i guess i should try harder to see results.
Shoud i use it in motions paraller or penpendicular to the edge?
Glad to hear it worked out well!:thumbup: Nice looking collection you've got going there, BTW.The Dog looks very nice.
Perpendicular is the way to go, after more than one hour work on the Skirmish's blade it looks much better.
Thanks for your help.
