Who can take a Busse skinny-dipping!

Here are two of Norcalblacktail’s full satin jobs. Both knives started as regular cc coated blades. Nate does really beautiful work. Thanks again Nate! Sorry about the dust.

Beautiful work and blades! But also very nice image too, was the sharpness and contrast crank all the way up?

Cheers

Thanks, It’s hard to get a decent photo without studio gear, but I try. I didn’t touch the contrast. Just some burning. Unsharp masking set at 180.

I had Norcalblacktail (Nate) put a convex edge on my B11 and I am very impressed with the result. Field testing begins tomorrow, I am hiking out with my son in the morning for a couple nights.

If you have Garth do it the guarantee stays intact :D, just saying.

I assume that you are referring to removing and reattaching scales? Then
I do agree. But, AFAIK, simply stripping and giving a knife a ghetto satin should not put your knife out of warranty, unless you thin the edge down something silly.

Have the shop do it. Just get in contact with Garth through email, or even call the shop.

If he doesn't get back to you right away, don't take it personally, just try again. He is a very busy guy!

At the end you get a factory satin finish that will only add to value, and the warranty stays in place.

That is true. Simply stripping the finish will not affect the warranty, however it may affect resale value.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.....I am not having luck reaching Garth at Busse or Nate at knifemods. Just looking for someone to strip and polish (maybe add the convex edge also) to three of my Busse knives. Any guidance as to who might help with this request and might be available/responsive would be well appreciated.

Worst case, is i will take a crack at it myself, but would rather have an experienced fella work it for me. Thanks!

My suggestion would be to send it to us and we will make sure she is sent back all pretty for you :D If you would like, give us a call on Monday and we will let you know the process or you can email me at pokey@bussecombat.com with any questions:thumbup:
...... I am just saying Pokey if MADDMAN has not done it in the 2.5yrs since he asked then he wasn't serious about gett'n naked in the first place...... ;) ;)

I would say either The Shop or Nate, both have done great work for me in the past.....

Nate...

The Shop...

I do a pretty good job at ghetto, but the shop always cleans them up for me later.

I struggled with the same question. I talked to Nate, Ban, and Garth. Garth was the least expensive of the three to satin up my striped NMSFNO.

I've been happy doing my own ugly ghetto satin, along with thinning the edge and owning my own warranty. I need to send the B11 back in, to have the asym edge reset.

Was wondering about this myself...I like to tinker with my tools ;-)...Thanks!
