I am an electrician and 29 years old. I LOVE my large Moon Song Sebenza and would like to carry it. The problem is I feel like I would scare people when I use it.

I could use some advice on this one.

Thanks

:DIf you want to carry it then as the Nike ads say JUST DO IT! Good Luck! Kevin:D

I carry one of two Large Regulars quite often - either factory swedged or tanto. I'm an architect, so I use knives for office tasks like pulling staples, cutting paper and opening boxes; and also around job sites - sharpening pencils, poking into flashings, scraping paint... just poking around on site visits.

The large Sebenzas are the knives I carry in situations where fixed blades are a little too forward. I rarely hesitate to use them at meetings or in other people's offices.

The only carry knife I have that's less threatening than a large Sebenza is a Small Sebebza. On the very rare occasions where someone has made an OMG-type comment about the Small, I've given them a bit of a riposte.

I have gotten a few generally good-natured, "now that's a knife"-ish comments about the Larges, but they are usually meant in fun. In that sort of situation, I'm happy to roll with it and just say, "yeah, I enjoy knives".

I think it's perfectly reasonable for an electrician to carry and use a Large - even if you're working in private homes. Just err on the side of prudence in terms of presentation.

If they're afraid of your knife, they were probably afraid of you in the first place so it's no big deal. Screw em.

get yourself a pink sheath and carry the sheath in your pocket. one of the comcast guys who came out to service my house had a MOD atfk (which after being allowed to play with it for 5 minutes I decided was pretty intimidating) and he had a safety orange sheath. I was kind of puzzled why and so I asked him about it and he said that a lot of people were scared when he just whipped it out so he bought a high visibility one so that people would know what he was doing and were prepared for it and that really makes a lot of difference.

I carry a large every day. Any time anyone asks, gotta knife? wife always says, he's wearing pants isn't he.

Ever since I can remember I have always had a big EDC. Maybe I can get away with it more because I am military. The again I don't just whip it out. In civies out side of my house if I have to present the knife, someone is gettin cut.

For utility, I am descrete in how I use the knife.

I had both for a while and preferred the small. The small will do just about everything the large will do for like 95% of your needs. On the other hand the large is a lot more comfortable and fills your hand nicely. I guess it depends on how often and how long you'll be using it. If it's like the occasional box or office type stuff then I'd stick with the small.

I carry a large regular or a spydie para everyday. I have an orange Ladybug on my key chain if I need to be discrete... The thing I am finding out about the Seb. is that it is made to be used.

I carry a Large Sebbie. I just received my Large Moon Song Seb yesterday and I plan on it being my new EDC. I carried and used small Sebs for a while, but overall I like the large Sebbies better. I plan to carry mine in a belt sheath.

All the time, almost everywhere. I'd be very happy to argue with anyone who was foolish enough to pillory me for my choices!

I carry a Large. The way I go around it is by also carrying a small pocket knife (A Victorinox Soldier or Al Mar Hawk in my case). These smaller knives is what I use, when I have to cut something, in front of others.

I used to carry my LG seb everyday without reservation. As long as you are within the laws of your area and you are not being a fool and waving it around or threatening anyone you have nothing to worry about.

That said I now carry a 4" spyderco military:D (my sebenza(s) are rotated in with others but millie is my edc) and the same rules apply no worries.

I'm like shike -- in fact, I'm probably a bit over-carried, being a bit of a tool head. I like my large regular Sebenza the most, and use it when the environment is right (which is 80% of the time). If there's scare-potential, I use my mnandi, and if the job calls for a different tool, the Vic Huntsman Plus comes out. There's other tools as well on me . . . my family just roll their eyes.

I carry a large classic and use it for anything I need . If you have sheeple problems tell them to see a shrink. At one time there was a perfect Mora , pink handle and sheath !! If anyone objected to that you could tell them it belongs to your wife !

The air around your attitude and body language speaks, not your knife. People have to see you to see your knife. Use it carefully and put t away and nobody blinks.. ...now if you're madly knifesurbating in public... well it COULD be frowned upon regardless of ANY knife OR your demeanor. ...been carrying a plain, Reg Lg Seb for yeeeeaarrrs.
