Who carries a Russlock

Yes, it is a one-hand opener. The tab is more similar to the one on a friction folder, but with the addition of a liner lock and a backspring. You sort of sweep the tab back and around the pivot with your thumb until it locks. It is not one hundred times slower than a modern flipper. Once you are used to it, it is no slower to open than my Spyderco Delica is.

Sorry - I didn't even think about that. (Truth be told, I didn't scroll past the text; so I didn't even realize there were knives for sale on that page...thought it was just an information page)

Here's the text:
"Case XX Knife Pattern
Russlock
The RussLock (1953L) debuted in the 2000 Case Catalog, and was quickly a favorite among collectors with its unique style and beauty. This pattern features a liner lock mechanism, along with a gimped lever for convenient one-hand opening. The liner lock was Case's answer for a high tech knife. Designed by late Case Master Knifemaker, Tommy Hart (1930 - 1999), the sleek body style of the RussLock was inspired by the Jack Knife (028), a pattern that has been retired for over 40 years. The pattern was named after Case founder, J. Russell "Russ" Case. The pattern number (1953L) is a tribute to the year Russ Case passed away."

That puts your Russlock as being from the first year of production (as are my others). I may have realized that at the time - I think I did - but I'd certainly forgotten it over the years.

That's really cool. It looked special and now I know why.
Thank you again, it's really just the kind of knife I wanted. It's weird, American and classy... Like me:D

Russlock is just the name for the model right? It is infact just a liner lock, or is there some difference?

Also, it has a backspring and a linerlock?

I have always over looked them as well but i am currently buying traditional knives with my name on them so the Russlock is added to the short list now!

I recently bought a stag AG Russell pinched peanut and am searching feverishly for a nice Russell Barlow to add to the name knife collection:)

Off to shop for a Russlock!

Yes. Just the name. Named in honor of the long-time president/founder of Case knives, J. Russell "Russ" Case.

It is a slipjoint with a backspring, and has a liner lock. The Schrade 194OT is another traditional knife that has both a backspring and liner lock. It is not unique to the Case Russlock.

The Russlock and a Swayback....one lf those two knives might be the ones to suck me into traditional folders.
