Who carries a scout knife.....

Jackknife, I also believe the old Camillus, Ulsters, and Imperial / Schrades have steel from the 10XX series, I love the edge most of them seem to take and the patina that they develop. If I were going to attempt the one knife for one year experiment, I think a scout might just be my choice.

Before I started the experiment, A Wenger SI was one of my most often carried knives. Built like a bank vault, and just the right amount of tools, like a scout knife.

A Vic Soldier has been in my scrubs pocket this year, chiefly because it can be easily cleaned should it end up in cadaverine goo. Prior to that (and outside of lab) it's rare to find me without one. My current fave is an early 40s Kingston.

I have a couple of scout knives in my rotation. One of them is a Case working man my son bought me when he was aboard the Abraham Lincoln. The other is a Schatt and Morgan I got a couple of months ago. Neither are true Scout Knives, just something along the same lines. I have had Vic's before and have enjoyed them also, except the shield keeps coming out of the plastic.

SharpFella, how do you like that Schatt and Morgan? I have considered getting one but keep putting it off for some reason. joe

Sorry for the late reply Joe, I have been pretty busy the past week.
I really like the Schatt, I was looking for something in the Cigar pattern and it really fit the bill. I haven't used the awl or the can opener yet but the blade is shaving sharp out of the box and the finish if good. I would look around before I get one, I bought mine at a gunshow and it was made in 2006. I paid about retail so I didn't get much of a deal. The bolsters seemed to scratch easily, if that is a concern. It feels good in the pocket too.
I hope you get one soon.

I love scout knives. My favorite are the Ulster and the AG Russell Premium Scout.

FWIW one of the most famous fictional users of Boy Scout knives was Charlie Chan. He said some nice things about them, too!

SharpFella, thanks for the reply. I will probably pick one up this spring.

John, who is Charlie Chan?

Thanks guys
