Who carries their EDC in a belt sheath?

Been wearing my Large Seb in a Horiz G2 Sheath for about a year now.
It hides very well in the Horizontal position . IMHO ..I can't see how you could not hide a sheathed folder when wearing a suit..heck I can conceal my 45 in a light t shirt.
I dislike the clip carry for the main reason that everyone I know that carries a handgun concealed ( LEGALLY !) carries a folder clipped in the pocket. To me this is a dead giveaway that someone is packin heat and I don't care to advertise that to all the sheeple.

I can even conceal my Henchman in inverted sheath carry on my offside .

Besides I can not stand to carry things in my pocket -- I guess it is cause I am always broke ! :D

During the summer time when school's out I've found that a t-shirt and shorts is the best way to be able to carry a sheathed folder. I have a couple of form fitting horizontal cordura/velcro sheaths that work just fine, and I would rather carry this way. But as I said for the rest of the year it is actually less noticeable for me to wear the knife clipped into my right front pocket. This is where how deep the knife rides is important. A favorite knife of mine was non-carriable due to the amount of bolster that stuck out. This is the LDC-5 that I sent back to John W. to have the clip moved to the top of the bolster. Now this knife is carriable and is being carried even as we speak!!

I'm also with Artsig1, in my work environment (slacks, button ups) I don't have the choice of wearing a sheath. I find the clip a more incognito way of wearing my knife. I've seen quite a few co-workers with clipped knives around my workplace, but of course it is Bass Pro Shops, so you can't expect most of these folks to not be carrying a pocketknife. ;)

Sitting here reading this I have to chuckle at the differences in "work" situations. I work in a production plant, on the assembly line for in a large, fairly rigid enviroment. In my case, a knife clipped to my pocket would stand out like a sore thumb. On the other hand, the company provides Leatherman Tools to the technicians and off-line support personal. I wear my Buck Tool, and recently, a Buck Ecco 3.0 with two blades, in an older combo sheath alongside a Mini-Maglite in a belt pouch and no one bats an eye. They all just figure its just a "tool".... ;)

Different strokes for diferent folks !! :D

IWB(inside waist band) carry is another great option if your knife has a clip, and you can hide the clip under your belt if you are wearing one, and will go almost completely undetected, and you can wear it in the front, on your side, and even in the small of your back.:)
Just my .02 cents worth.

I wouldn't carry a large pocketknife on the small of your back with no undies. Especially during exersize, stressful business meetings, or after taco night. :D :barf:

on it's way that I just couldn't pass up, (thanks Ryan) but the last year or so I find myself drawn to traditional knives. I've seen Buck 110s on the cheap at Wally world. Might have to pick one up and give the belt sheath a try (although I think the 112 looks to be a handier size). I guess then if the sheath stays and the clip goes I can save up a get a PCKS 110.

Thanks guys for the compliments on the sheaths, glad they are being put to use and not sitting on a dresser.

Myself I wear a sheath and at the same time, carry a knife clipped in my pocket, as well as several that ride inside the pocket as well, usually around 5 to 7 knives on any given day, yes...I know...I have a problem ;) But the sheath carry works best for me, easier to reach when seated than in a pocket, clipped or otherwise. As to style, the horizontal works pretty nice, though I do like a lanyard on a folder and that makes the vertical sheaths handier in that respect. I know some like the look of canted sheaths but on larger knives the vertical sheath works a bit better in actual use.

You carry 7 knives on you? With all due respect to your Gold member status, it sounds like you are not choosing the right knives (unless you are hawking them on the street or are employed as a Ninja warrior).;)

I carry at least five on the weekends and two or three to the office.

G2 just has more creative ways to hide them!!

Regards,
FK

Neither Hawker nor Ninja be, but just a plain old knife knutt...

I have some sort of rationale for carrying multiple knives as I see each one has a purpose or use that allows me to carry, sometimes knives just make a cameo appearance to show to others at work.

Today was a light duty day;

Swiss Army Executive, left front pocket, multiple uses, scissors are very handy as is the fingernail file part.

Kershaw Double Cross, right front pocket, love that wharncliff blade, sometimes use it to trim papers or cut out labels, wharncliff blade is ideally suited for that.

Kershaw Leek, Clipped right front pocket, this is a new one for me and I LIKES it, though it is rather smooth scales but love the flipper and lock up is very solid, use it for box cutting/opening coffee bags, cords, cut some 18/2 wire yesterday with it, edge was still nice and sharp, it's nice for a faster opener type knife and one that doesn't kill your wallet to buy!

Benchmade 31, butterfly knife...right rear pocket...just because I need to flip off now and then ;)

Benchmade 941 red handled boron carbide coated blade, love this knife, it has a longer blade than the Leek and could say either one would work for the day, but today I carried both, the 941 sliced up a blue berry bagel this morning at work.

Benchmade 770 carbon fiber, boron carbide coated blade, shirt pocket carry, handy to have all the time, this knife replaced my William Henry Lancet, though I do admit I miss the Lancet's lighter weight, I feel this knife cuts better and is a little more rugged than the Lancet.

Chris Reeve Sebenza, large regular, Right side belt carry, for a solid almost fixed blade duty knife, this knife is more of a no nonsense type knife that you can bet your life on, the others do not give me the confidence this knife imparts.

And in my suit case/carrying bag rides a Cold Steel Trailmaster, haven't had to call on it's use while at work but hey, you never know, nothing like having to say...Drats! I have a nice bowie at home!

And I used to bring along my Rob Criswell 20" Wakizashi in my car but have taken to leaving it by my bed side.

Now on some days I'll rotate different knives into my daily carry but this is pretty much typical...:)

G2 :
Where is the W & H Wharncliff hiding...don't tell me you let her go already ? :D
Today was a light day for me..... Large Seb G2 Sheath Belt Carry , Kershaw Vapor 2 offside front pocket.Right rear belt..Leatherman.

In my Laptop bag....inside front flap : BM42,Kershaw Double Cross.middle section next to the laptop: Gary Ellis Montroc.tucked neatly in the back section... Blackwood Henchman.and a SAK

G2: You don't wear the Criswell to work? Shame on you! :p

Once I get mine, I'll have to try that at least once! :D

(BTW, don't worry, I have a very relaxed workplace. At the Christmas party I opened a present with my Battle Rat with only a few gasps. They know what to expect now!)

I no longer carry anything clipped to my pocket. I still have the nylon sheath for my MT LCC. I lost it when clipped to my pocket, hunting ptarmigan. That sheath looks at me with the same look my wife gives me when she says, "I told you so..."

Now it either goes in my pocket or on my belt, preferably the latter. Which explains why most of my knives are fixed blades.

Where I live, NY-NJ area, one pretty much can only wear a fixed blade while hunting, fishing, or Scuba diving without looking odd or suspicious.

As of right now the only two of my EDC rotation that have a sheath is my leatherman and my William Henry evolution with wharncliff blade (S07-C).

I have been thinking hard about a Sebbie and asking G2 to make me a sheath. I will have to see how much free cash I can come up with this year.

I'm suprised at the number of you that have either lost your EDC, or had it come out of your pocket when using the clip. I have never had this happen to me. I have bent the clips before catching them on things, but my knife has never been lost, or come out of my pocket unless I physically took it out.

I would like to carry my EDC in a belt sheath, but I already carry my SOG PowerLock & Surefire in a custom leather sheath I made, along with a cellphone. and I occasionally carry my pistol on my right rear, so that is quite enough.
