Who do you think the best blade grinders in the game today are?

I like Walter Brend and many others but Walters grinds are top notch to me.

1) DJ Urbanovsky amazes me with his fantastic grinds. This guy can grind, no question about it.

I have one of his knives. After seeing his grinds I just had to have a piece of his work. http://americankami.com/

2) Bob Dozier is pretty amazing and fast. http://www.dozierknives.com/

Rarely do you see a man with the skill to make the finest most beautiful fit and finished knives with the best polish you can imagine and zero flaws and pretty much name his price and then find him turned around ten minutes later and focused in on a project to make a pure utilitarian knife that is a bare bones user any working man can afford. Amazing in a one word description.

3) Ken Onion. http://www.kenonionknives.com/

Ken does some of the most complete and awesome detailed custom knives, and some of the most amazing recurved grinds I have ever seen. A makers maker in the industry and someone to always stand back in awe wondering what he will come up with next. A real trend setter in his own right. Truly a man above others in the field in everyway and yet humble and comfortable mingling among his adoring fans and fellow knife makers.

Thats my top three picks at this writing.

Gotta agree with Brend and Onion and throw in Jim Siska, RJ Martin and Kit Carson. Most makers can make a fighter's grind look good but Siska can make the simplest hunter's grind just pop. I know most people don't think of Kit when it comes to grinds(just amazing fit, finish, lockup and perfect knives!) but check out some of his early fighters. Wicked recurves. RJ does amazing stuff. Murray has a compound ground hunter from him that I would kill for.

I'm sure he does both but mostly prefers the one side only. Ask him. He replies fast.

1. Chris Reeve-fast and precise.
2. Bill Harsey-Very clean grinds.
3. Jim Siska-already mentioned
4. Mike Lovett-very precise.
5. S.R. Johnson-If you have to ask, you don't know.:D
6. Ron Lake-Very, very solid grinder
7. Tim Wright-one of the very best.
8. Tom Mayo-Super clean work

From what I've handled so far only, the top III "grinders" are (in alphabetical order):
Neil Blackwood
Ron Lake
Tom Mayo

I have only seen a few examples of their work but I've been impressed with the quality of grinds coming from RJ Martin and Greg Lightfoot. The ones who really knock me out are probably Mike Lovett, SR Johnson, John Young, and Tom Mayo. I've also been very impressed with the grinds on blades by Lee Williams.

Schuyler Lovestrand, Bob Lay, Bill ruple, D'Holder, Scott Cook, Joe Kious, Richard Rogers......

S R Johnson
Ron Lake
Steve Hoel
Jess Horn
Bob Lum
actually, the list goes on and on and on..........:p

Can't argue with most of the above but I'll add those guys from Cody, Wy. Bill Ankrom and Dennis Friedly.
