Who else is an MMA junkie???

I have been thinking about joining a gym. We have a few around here that are very respectable. I have had some training in wrestling (8 years when i was a kid), No Gi jiu jitsu. I would love to train in muay thai and get some formal boxing training. I would love to do an amateur fight just to see how I match up against someone. Beef doesn't give me much of a challenge. LOL

I think I know what youre talking about but would you care to elaborate? (To kalel)

Bones jones! He's got a different style I love watching mma. BJ Penn before he lost his last few. Wasn't bad watching Brock get beat down either.

I am a big MMA junkie! I have seen almost every UFC and Pride and most of the early King of the Cage fights.

I don't mean to offend anyone but just the culture of being covered in tattoos, the heavy partying, drugs etc... It seems like alot of the gyms I go to have somewhat of a "thug" type culture with alot of the fighters getting involved in negative things.

I love that martial arts teach self respect, control, and self discipline but I don't feel like the MMA Gyms I've attended have incorporated that aspect of martial arts. Its a live fast, die young type thing and I just don't enjoy it.

I agree with KalEl. I'm in Vegas and used to train at J-Sect with John Lewis, then moved to Cobra Kai with Marc Laimon years ago. I got too busy and haven't been there in ages. Like, before the first season of TUF. After that, I hear tons of Mountain Dew swiggin' extreme sports d-bags started "training UFC" en mass and I've had no interest in returning to any MMA gym.

From what I hear, though, Wanderlei's gym out here is legit. He doesn't approve of the hard partying, smoking, drinking habits that a lot of tatted up tough guys are bringing into MMA these days. I'm not sure if he actively screens these guys before they join his gym, but it's nice to hear that he's all about the pureness of martial arts.

I am with you guys. I am not a big fan of guys who talk a bunch of crap and act like the world is against them. I love guys like BJ Penn, GSP and The Gracies. Once in a great while they might talk a little smack but they preferred to show you there skill and not tell you how great it is. I know that a lot of the talking is probably brought on by promoters and the hype of T.V. but what happened to humility. Guys like the Diaz brothers give MMA a bad name. IMO

Just thought you guys might like this.
The perfect fighter body. :D
