I've got 3 and counting. First one is a circa 1967 with double spacers. My second 106 is circa 1971 with Micarta handle. Third is my 106 circa late 1970's with Rose wood handles. All three are mint and I enjoy showing them to fellow collectors. I am trying to post some pic' s, please bear with as I'm trying.

Well, I won't say that I LOVE it, but I do have one. Never used it, I have an old Estwing hatchet I use when I need one, and like the feel of the leather handle on the Estwing better.

You really need to make your photos bigger. You just can't see any detail in the one's you've posted.

I like em. Here is the last issue of the 106 made in 2001.
Cat #5153, 1,242 produced.

The rosewood handle models, Buck began doing in 83 or 84. I would agree with the others. DM

I bought a 106 a few years ago and it was in rough shape, I took it over to my gray wheel (fine abrasion) to get some of the scratches out. After a few minutes I realized that it was plated, and the under metal was copper or brass. Has anybody experienced that same results or did I get an odd ball.

Could it be that some brass was left loaded in the wheel and transferred to the stainless while buffing?
