who else loves their 106?

Could it be that some brass was left loaded in the wheel and transferred to the stainless while buffing?

No, I discussed this with another collector and he had the same experience on one of his but it is intermittent, because it didn't happen with every 106 he cleaned up. I don't have any pictures. I was just wondering if anybody had seen the same thing...
What is this handle made of? I like this alot.
They are laminated wood and cataloged as Oak. I don't know if Oak refers to the color or the actual species of wood. My understanding is that the Buck laminates are Birch DymondWood. The deer image appears to be lasered on.

Thank You, its a very good looking wood handle that looks just right on this particular axe. It almost looks like a custom application but I don't believe it is. I would like to see it in person.

Special run but not Custom per se. Cat #5153, 1,242 produced in 2001.
This was the last year for the 106 axe.

Armon, Your DY model is quite handsome. I have those other two models you show in photos and they're well done too. I use mine on many tasks as well and it works. DM

Very nice Armon, truly one of a kind! I like to collect "different" knives and axes that are unique unto themselves. Your DY is a real Handsome axe.
