....A Russian forumite developed a very nice bevel guage. I communicated with him on reproducing the piece, but them I got snowed and it was placed on a "hold" shelf. We made quite a few protos refing the design. we could probably make some if there is interest. We cut them out with a lazer.

I'll dig one one up. We could probably cut out a few. The designer agreed to a royalty.

I know I sure do.

I had to do some research to figure out what the heck you were talking about....

Are these what you are referring to:

broken links...

Its for measuing the bevels on a knife. I dont know the design OFC since the one sal was talking about hasnt been produced yet.

The link was still there and the pics were showing after I made the post (????).
I was being lazy and used the link I found the pictures at originally.
I don't know why they don't show as the pics are still there. But, I saved the pics to my files and picture host and reposted.
Appears to be working now.

From the thread I found, somebody on a Russian forum developed the bevel gauge and sold a few to some forum guys in Russia. Word got out and Sal worked out a deal to be able to produce them.
Apparently, Sal may have made a few, but I don't know the current status of selling them.

See pages 2 and 3 of the following thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5213409

And if you can read Russian and/or are interested in a couple more pics: http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/5/218245.html

Personally, I convex sharpen by hand and wouldn't really need the gauge for my knives. But, I actually might have other uses or justifications for one if the price is reasonable.

.

Actually, depending on the price, I might even get three or four for Xmas presents for friends who are fellow knife afficianafos. :p

The protos that we made had the degrees engraved on the piece and it has a bug in the center, + a keyring hole. Other than that it is his design.

I haven't spoken with him for a while, but I think he would still be interested. I just get to running faster than my legs will go.

I would sure like a couple of those myself. Let us know your contact info and price for getting them. Thanks for sharing that with us. JD

Sal asked me to share a pic of our prototype.
