Who else would buy a framelock Tenacious?

I probably wouldn't buy a framelock Tenacious. The Tenacious is a 'value' level folder for Spyderco, and they would have to use a stainless frame slab to maintain the price point. That would push the weight up considerably. Other than maybe some custom G-10 scales, I'd leave the Tenacious just the way that is.

Um, having a stainless frame slab is the entire raison d'être of my idea.

The southard is a 3 inch framelock.

The Southard is titanium, not SS, so you haven't contradicted me, though your tone seems to indicate that you think you are contradicting me.

Some of you seem to think that my hypothetical framelock Tenacious would "add weight" to the original design. Sorry, but I'm just not seeing it. The liners on my Tenacious are just about 1mm thick. The Frame on my Kershaw Cryo is a hair under 1.5mm thick. Therefore, if you used a full G10 linerless scale on the non locking side, a framelock tenacious as described in my OP could mass less than the liner lock Tenacious.

If Spyderco made it a SS Frame Lock, it likely would add weight.
You would be using a full non-skeletonized slab of stainless. It would likely be 2mm thick(on one side of the knife), at least and weigh much more than the skeletonized liners.

With the linerless G-10 side, that takes weight off of that side, but still adds weight to the other.

This may make it unbalanced and would still be the same weight or heavier.

However, yes I would like a Frame Lock Tenacious, but I think I would do it a little differently than described.

I really like the overall size, and feel of the tenacious, but I hate the fact that its Chinese made....
My ideal tenacious would be USA made, 230v, Ti Framelock, and cf scale!

I would buy one, with better blade steel. Tenacious is a great knife that can be expanded upon via the platform it was built on. Sal got it right on this one as an entry level knife at its price point. However, the Tenacious should be expanded and upgraded for those of us that love the knife and its attributes. I for one think this knife is one of my Perfect EDC's and would love one with upgraded materials!

Sal?

An FRN w/ Spyderco's bi-directional texturing like the ones on the Endura and Delica 4s would be fantastic.
Especially when FRN models are generally cheaper than the G10 counterparts.
On the other hand, it is a linerlock...So maybe a lock back FRN Tenacious!
Hopefully that could be a Tenacious 2. G10 and FRN options. Of course, maybe they could get rid of the linerlock and go full lock back.

I would love a Tenacious in updated materials, etc.

Ti Frame Lock with Blue Twill CF(non locking side) or just all ti.
Upgraded Steel
Choil
Maybe add a low ride clip?

Though that may make almost a whole new knife, it sounds good to me.

If they could keep it the same price, I'd like to see a compression lock Tenacious. *shrug*

This. I don't see the point in a liner lock to frame lock. They're practically, the same, and anyways, I like the liner lock better, since I don't like the slit a frame lock makes and I always feel like I'm ramming the lock in too far. A compression lock, at a $30 price point though, would be pretty cool. Especially, since I think the cheapest compression lock knife at the moment is the Junior, at over twice the price.

I'd be willing to pay the same as a Paramilitary 2 for a nice stainless framelock if the frame was milled out on the inside to reduce weight, the G10 scale was linerless and just plain textured G10, (none of that fancy milled G10 like you see on some knives.) the blade was at least 3.5", and the blade steel was Elmax or CPM154.

CPM154 is probably more realistic, since it is so easy on tooling, and very forgiving to CNC programmers.

I would probably prefer a deep choil like the Para's and a FFG blade.

Actually, this is a perfect recipe for a stainless integral compression lock too...

no that would be a totally different knife, add better materials yes like the style just better blade steel framelock ah no

That's it?

The whole point of the Tenacious line is to be an inexpensive introduction to Spyderco knives. If they introduced a framelock Tenacious it would more than likely add cost not to mention a fair amount of weight to it, and with everyone complaining about knives weighing to much already. I don't think it would sell very well in the long run. I'm with Bladechick, I would LOVE to see a Tenacious with upgraded material. I would buy the heck out of that.

A.G. Russel's Orca is slightly larger, similar in design, and a framelock with a stabilizer. It costs around the same as a Resilience.

I would settle for better blade steel. I'd get another as soon as its offered in something better.
