I thought this title would get everyone's attention. And yes the bird is legal, my 87 year old mother does bird of prey shows and has for the last 47 years. Anyone want to reach in and get my XM-3" :D To be truthful I did not either, I made my mother get it back:eek:

How in the world did you get the owl to pick up that knife in it's beak????

Well a little cheating. I cropped my mothers hand out of the picture. She was holding the XM, ET (that is the owls name) did not actually hold the knife in its beak.

ah trickery! you can see fingers on the blade, but that got me at first too :p

whats the average lifespan for owls, 30 years is a good bit

35 is typical one in Mich. is 45. When ET passes my mother will be more that hart broken. It is hard to explain their relationship, but it is closer than close.

That's some good stuff, your mother sounds like one awesome lady!

I love birds, love them, I was working in/out of my shop today and I kept hearing what I thought was a red-tailed hawk but it didn't seem too loud albeit close, I thought it was possibly an immature. I wasn't really looking for it when I finally realized it was sitting on top of my daughters' play house and it was an adult. I took some iPhone pics but they likely didn't come out too good as it was dusk and I used the zoom feature.

Great Pics! I grew up with a Mentor Uncle Game Warden and his rescue Owls and Hawks ( complete with scars to commemorate) Neat way to grow up. I attribute much of who I am as a Man today to that Man and the time he gave to me.
Great Pics BH - Thank you for the visit to my memories.

Nice peek into your personal life.

Is it just me?
Rubi, aren't cats (avatar) natural predators of birdies?
birdhunter1220, (user name) says it all, your mom loves them and you hunt them?

:D

I find owls as majestic as eagles and hawks, thanks for the pics. I would be awestruck being so close to that wise looking fellow :)
