Who has a recognized first aid cetificate?

did the lifeguarding thing at a Six Flags park for waaaaaay too long. Taken dozens of courses and conferences and such. The best training I got however, was in boy scouts. Constantly piecing myself, and my family back together didn't hurt. Really it's pretty simple. Keep 'em breathing. Keep the blood inside. Other than that, it's all a gray area :) I think the only thing most people have in a FAK they may not be "qualified" to use are sutures. And that basically will just lead to ugly scars. All the CPR ratios and basically everything are more guidelines than actual rules...

Like everything else.... make it work.

I was a Red Cross certified instructor when I was a Drill Sgt teaching first-aid and CPR to my soldiers. When I was working for the Dept. of Corrections, we were certified every year. I think I was well trained, I saved a guy at a different job when he got his arm caught in an auger. It ripped the muscles of the side of his forearm, blood was everywhere. I keep him from bleeding out and out of shock. When the EMT's showed, they thought I was one of them. That was a complement to me, that and the fact my guy survived and still has that arm.

I'm also a grandfather. I've patched up a lot of children in much less serious injuries.

I've gone through the basic first aid programs, but my most of my woods time is spent with the girlfriend, who has pretty extensive occupational and wilderness first aid certification

I have 1st Aid, CPR/AED certification. It's an optional thing at work and I always sign up, especially since it's free to staff.

Well, not in First Aid, but I did get CPR certified last month. Would certainly be a good idea to get certified in First Aid as well.

james!! ive been a certified lifeguard, first responder, ocean guard for over 10 years. i used to teach the cpr course, until i let it lapse. always good to know what to do during an emergency.

Hi jamesmtl -

I am CPR/AED Certified as a Safety Responder at my place of business.

I am required by the certification to refresh the training bi-annually.

best regards -

Im a nurse, CPR, AED, first aid is a must. I believe everyone spending time away from civilization should have some basic skills..

I was a certified EMT for a while, but stopped keeping up on the recertification. I've been through several combat life saver first aid courses while in the Marine Corps. I also have my low angle rescue certification. I'm in the process right now of getting ready to go back through and get my EMT certification again.

Red Cross CPR (Professional Rescuer & AED) and First Aid certified. I've had a few real-world experiences applying direct pressure to severely bleeding wounds. I think everyone should have some minimal amount of first-responder training. If I can carve out the time, I plan to do the EMT course at my local college.

On top of that Ive had various combat lifesaving classes in the Army.

No FAK is complete without the knowlage to use it guys. Knowlage is pretty lightweight I hear too.....
