Who has ever.....BROKEN......an FRN handle?

At least in theory, a G-10 or CF handle is more likely to "break" than FRN. Because it is nylon FRN will normally flex rather than break. Pivots and screws may be torn out in the process, but the handle will not crack or break. G-10 and CF, on the other hand embeds the glass or carbon fibers in a resin base which is far less flexible, so when sufficient force is applied, it will snap. That is not to say the FRN handle would not "fail" first, merely that the failure mode would not be a break.

Only FRN handle I've ever seen damaged came in contact with the burner on an electric stove. Melted it pretty badly and stunk to high heaven.

All FRN is not created equal.

Big time. My friend gave me a CCC keychain knife, with what looked like a mini Spyderco Ladybug, with a trianguler hole in the blade for one hand opening. The handle looked like FRN, but when I took it skiing (as a disposible knife), I took it out off my jacket, and droped it because my hands were pretty numb, when it landed from the 4 foot drop on to concrete, the handle cracked in to several pieces. :foot:

Maybe it was not FRN, bu just plastic?

I've seen plastic crack and break plenty of times, but I've never seen NYLON crack or break from being dropped.

Ive broke the built in clip off a Cold Steel Voyager Tanto... It was in my pocket and like so many of my knives, got pulled out when I took my forklift seatbelt off and jumped off. Just that one time, it didn't come out all the way and I hear a slight crack.. Knew what it was instantly.. Now, Im into the Spydercos... They haven't broken, felt flimsy or weak at all. I do like that they seem to be moving to a steel lined FRN handle though. Like the D'Allara I love so much.
