I should be able to get out and try some of my new stuff within the next couple weeks. Spring has to come even to North Dakota.

nice find jim. that looks like it will do some chopping and anything else you want to do.

Jim, I got one on trade here, stripped/sanded the blade, for some reason tried not to like it...didn't work...it's now my favorite BIG camp knife:thumbup:

That's an awesome knife. I've had one several years, and it's seen more use than any of my other large fixed blades. I've used it so much, I've worn almost all of the coating off. Whenever someone on BFC is asking about the best chopper for the money, that's the knife I always recommend. I've never been able to figure out why it doesn't have more of a following. I have the KaBar Kukri, which shares the same handle, and it doesn't perform nearly as well as that one, which is the "Cutlass". It looks like KaBar may be discontinuing that model, and keeping the Kukri, which is a mistake, IMO.

The KaBar Cutlass chops as well as a Busse Battle Mistress- 3" limbs in one chop are no problem for that thing. It's not as pretty, or as flashy as a Battle Mistress, but it does the same job for a heck of a lot less money. (for the record- I have four Battle Mistresses) Great score! One of the most underrated knives on the market, IMO. The handle is a great design, too. Nice and comfy, cushioned, has a hook on the end that doesn't crush your pinky- but counters centrifugal force, doesn't get cold in winter, and doesn't get slippery when it's wet. Love it!

have one unused. kinda big for anything I'm doing right now. proly be able to chop a tree down with it if you needed to. no wait, not the same shaped blade. more on the straight side like a big bowie.
