I have 1300

Joe has 1336

Cliff has 2074, WOW....

I never thought I would get close to you Joe, but I imagine the baby is taking up a good bit of your time, as a bundle of joy like that should.....

Who are the big hitters, posts wise?

Not that total posts speak to quality, but Cliff's numbers are a good indicator of how many tough questions have been posed....

Not even close, guys

Bill Martino (currently posting from NEPAL!) is still the winner with 5287. Mike has 3738, Spark 2680. Other heavy hitters from a quick sample include Jim March 2061, Hoodoo 1999, stJames 1721, Rusty 1521.

Uncle Bill is very successfully running the entire HI marketing and customer service program over BF and EMail.

When I popped over for a visit a while back, he explained that he saves posting pics of a new hot item until the afternoon, because they do blade cleanup, packaging and shipping in the AM. Once he lets loose a pic of something cool, his phone and EMail just *explodes*, precluding getting anything else done.

It's absolutely amazing, and there's nothing to stop any other maker/company from doing the same. Besides the sales/service going on there, there's discussions of just about *anything* you can imagine from all over the planet and some of us suspect further

I know we're comming up fast on 5000 members, and I've seen the number of posts.

My questions would be,

How many Members actually post in a given month?

How many actually start a New Thread?

Yeh......interesting stats.

But (here he comes, again).....what about the content ?
What about the ""me too", "you da man", "it's a POS (period)" and all of the other posts that added nothing to the sum total of human knowledge of cutting implements. Definitely made a few of them, myself ! BUT I DID try to fill them out with REAL posts.
Let's get real....anyone can post a hundred times in a couple of weeks if they don't care what they say.
POINT : nothing wrong with shallow, meaningless posts.......but let's not continue to CONGRATULATE members for lots of them.

Cranky old bugger ........

Just how did that happen?

I would guess that my posts are fairly evenly divided between imparting actual useful information, giving my unbiased opinion, online “chats” with the friend I have made here, and giving Jackyl a hard time for being so fickle

I agree with the idea that quantity is not quality.

I do my best to contribute quality, not quantity, but some times...

Brian,
I can't tell you how much I agree with you. I lurked every day for six months until I felt I had something to contribute. There are so many knowledgeable people here. I think new people should lurk a while and get the feel of the place. I'm not trying to flame anyone, so I won't say who it is, but I got annoyed at a new guy who posted 100 times in a week and a half. He then had the audacity to post a thread saying, "look at me I'm a senior." He then said in his post that he just wanted to give everyone a chance to up there number. What a waste of time and Mike's money. I would think Mike would jump in and stop it. I guess everyone would have said he was a jerk. I would have applauded him. Just because you can hit the enter key doesn't mean you have something worth saying.

Take care,
Jim

Hey HUNTER3897, whats that all about? Im only trying to have some fun here with fellow knife nuts. When i posted that thread i had no idea that 42 people would reply! I thought only my friend IUBI would reply. It was only a little joke, lighten up man!

Take it easy,
Andrew

Brian, Stihl, and others. Yeah, right on! Coool. Way to Go! THAT WAS NECESSARY. Way to pound those nails.

The only problem is, the guys you are talking to don't think. They like to post nonsense in the Middle of serious threads. They race to 100 posts, and then within a month, have over 400. It's kind of like graffitti. It says: Hey, I was here!

I must say I really really respect that. I give a lot a credibility to posters who post a great deal of nothing, or even better, nonsense. I think they are important. And knowledgable. I don't care if I can't understand their point. I am only impressed by the numbers. Less is More. More is better. Right? Wow!

I love knives, I love this site, and I think the Members here are great. I visit here a lot, to talk knives when I have first hand knowledge about a certain knife, and to learn from the rest of you when I don't. The main reason I come here is because it's fun, and a post doesn't have to be long winded to be funny, and I don't feel like I've got to use all th words I know to make a comment. Yes, I can be a wiseass, and sometimes people can miss the joke, or take it the wrong way, so what?

I try not to post in threads that are serious, or seriously none of my business, or of really of no interest to me. It bothers me more when people take the Topics here too serious, I mean some folks need to just lighten up!

Or maybe you shouldn't, because sometimes when you guys are dead serious you're really funny as hell.
