And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold the great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads...And His tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

I have a bias for serious posts.

But I also appreciate the fun ones, and the pointless ones, I do it too.

The other than serious stuff makes the atmosphere enjoyable, and makes for more potential converts to the dark side, serious posts....

Hi MDP,

I have made a few posts in my short time here.

Usually I try to be serious, but sometimes I do the "one liners" as well. I think that if it is possible for you to contribute something to a thread then you should post. (Even if they are just one line)

Later,
John

P.S. I come here to enjoy myself, if it were serious all the time I don't think that would be possible.

Hey, I am just as guilty as anyone of goofing off, some saw me do it a couple days ago.

Big long post that didn't really contribute much.

I post to those weekly, what do you carry threads, despite the fact that nothing has changed.

But I endeavour to contribute in a substantive way whenever possible.

Are we talking about "super senior" status here? Followed, of course, by "super-duper senior" status

i have to agree with you guys. i've made quite a few posts since i joined and i've tried to make something meaningful out of most of them. i goof off a little just as everyone does. but lately there seems to be a trend for at least 5 people to welcome people to the forums and that's it. i don't see a real point in wasting Mike's resources by doing that. Mike has stated more than a few times that space isn't cheap, hence i think everyone should do what they can to NOT waste it. to joke around a little bit is fine, but there are a number of members lately who appear on nearly every thread, say nothing and piss away resources of this site. sorry if i have offended anyone, but i think this needed to be said. and if you think i'm talking about you, maybe you need to change your ways. if you can add something to a post, by all means do so. if not, read, learn and enjoy. we don't need to hear that you don't know anything about the subject.

last of all, i want to thank everyone here for contributing their thoughts, opinions and genuine help. my knowledge on knives has skyrocketed since i started coming here a few months ago.

Renfield,
I didn't want this to turn into a pissing match so that's why I didn't mention your name. You responded, so let's talk. You tell me to lighten up and ask me "What's that all about?" Well it's easy to say lighten up when you are spending someone else's money.
Do you think that this sight runs for free? It's painfully obvious that you haven't been here long enough to call yourself a senior. You make my point for me. Do a search on bandwith and you will find out what I'm talking about. If you took the time to get to know this place before you raced off to 100 posts you would have figured out that wasting bandwith is not appreciated. I'm not going to waste everyone's time by going into it again, but do some searching and you will find exactly how much it costs Mike to run this place. (Oh, by the way, Mike = Mike Turber. He owns the place.) I guess I'm from the old school. When I'm new to a place, I keep my mouth shut until I know what's going on. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying newbies shouldn't ask questions or contribute to a thread. But it was real obvious to anyone who read your post's that you were just trying to become a senior. All doubt was removed when you posted the "Everyone look at me, I'm a senior" thread. You say that you meant that post only for your friend and that you had no idea that that many people would respond. You were posting it on a public forum. What did you think would happen? If you truly meant it only for your friend, send him an e-mail and don't waste other people's money for your own self-indulgent reasons. As an extreme example, take a look at Cliff Stamp. He has over 2000 posts and every one of them has information that someone can use. I can't claim that my posts have anywhere near the useful information that his does, but I've been on this sight everyday since June of '99 and I only have roughly 35 posts. What does that say? Either I'm really knife illiterate,(which is open to interpretation) or I try to make sure I have something to add to the discussion before I hit the enter key. I really enjoy the humor here and am not trying to say that posts should be emotionless drone-like responses. Just think before you waste other people's money.

Alright, ill admit to comming here and wanting to become a seinor member as quickly as possible. Alot of my posts were solely for the purpose of raising my number. However, i thought i had some good ones in there too. Anyway, i look back in regret now, it didnt get me anywhere. Im sorry, i didnt realize the consequences of my actions.

I love this place, and respect all of the knowledgeable people here. Ill chill with my posting now. Have a nice day.

RenField, don't feel too bad. You are not the only guilty one (although you Are the first I've seen admit it). This post-racing phenomenom has just been going on an awful lot lately. You are Not one of the members I am increasingly frustrated with, although your 100th post thread did Dramatize the problem. You have made good posts. Thank-you for your understanding. I just wish others learned as quickly. Please make as many Contributions as you like. I am looking forward to reading them.

Renfield,
I just got a ton of respect for you. You had the balls to admit it. Don't get the idea that I think you haven't contributed anything to this forum. You've had some really good posts. Benchmade should hire you for a PR man. Stick around. There's a lot to learn here.

Jim

Maybe I should just make everyone members, and eliminate the whole senior thing.

Even though it hurts to say it, I like being a senior member, sounds like a good idea Spark.

Spark -- I really don't think it matters one way or the other.

I think most people (I hope!) judge each post on it's content and not on the status of the poster.

I don't think it really matters much either, although when someone is really abusing the meaningless posts and then bragging about their numbers it gets a little frustrating. For what it is worth I did gain some satisfaction of making it to senior status, but it was not my goal in posting. I think the quest for this status is amusing, too bad their are the few who so obviously abuse it.

I would be happy to give up the honor of being called a "senior". At 60 years, I can afford it.
Seriously, I have never seen any real benefit to the forums to have "classes" of members.
If a "classless" membership would mean fewer "me, too" posts, I am for it.
Talk about "the kiss of death"
