Who has The Real Deal hat?

Not sure the four vents make it ideal as a throw up bucket...but I'm sure I'll find out one of these days. :)

How well does the hat maintain its shape???? My main problems with some of the hats is that they lose the shape when wet after sweating or getting stuck in the rain. I also like to wash my hat everonce in a while. The hat i have now has maybe another year to live. Been looking at the tilly hat as i heard no matter what you do to them they ALWAY stay in shape. Even after been stuffed in at the bottom of the pack for 2 days. Would this hat stay in shape 4 years later??? I tend to keep the hat untill it would fall apart.

Sasha

Don't know how well you can see it in this pic, but if you look at the metal topcase on the back of my bike, under my blue helmet, you can see my hat squished in there. It rode the whole 2,200 miles strapped and smashed by one bungee cord. I'd have to do a little reshaping every time I pulled it out, but no big deal. It's a trooper.

Hi Jason after you do adj the shape of the hat would it take the shape back like new again. Or after a while would it drop and just not look right again???
i like that box in the back, How did you mount it???

Sasha

Sasha...keep in mind that the hat comes new with a rugged beat-up look, and because of that I'm not so particular about the shape. I don't have any trouble getting it back to where I want it, but I don't care that much either.

That's a hepco-becker 35 liter aluminum topcase. Requires installing a mounting system, but wasn't a big deal. The mounting system is bike specific. Very functional and sturdy case.

God I would love to have a good hat, but I have some sort of cursed head that needs big hats. I had to order bandanas from military gear stores that would wrap around my head...

Winter is coming, so I rather have to get a winter hat and wait for summer to get something like discussed here.

I took mine down to Key West this past weekend I had it stuffed in the tour pack on the back of the bike. It was in the 90s down there but I didn't notice it being any hotter than my other hats.

The hat has some kind of support around the rim and seems waxed. I holds it's shape.

I LIKE THAT HAT. That thing looks good. I wish I had some moolah. I'd snatch one up right now.

I just saw the commercial for the movie, "Zombie Land." It looks like that is the hat that Woody Harrelson is wearing.

Yep, that's a Real Deal hat all right...I don't make mine look that good...must be because I'm not Woody Harrelson! :p -Matt-

Have you tried wearing a snake skin jacket with it? Give it a shot. Might bring you up a few notches. ;)

i got one recently because i was about to spend a couple weeks working on a friend's farm. i don't like to wear sunscreen, my current sun hat was too delicate, and i don't want to spend over $50 for a hat - saw someone mention it here on W&SS so i got a realdeal.

absolutely love it. it's tough, keeps the sun off, and fits me perfectly. i wore it doing a little sailing in the adirondacks a couple weekends ago and it stayed on my head - so it passed the "too windy" test.

Ask yourself this - if you only had a wet, moldy old log to sit on, would you sit on your hat to keep your butt dry? If I had a Tilley, probably not - but I wouldn't hesitate with a realdeal. They're tough and made for abuse - and they don't look too bad either. I call that a sweet deal! :)

here's a pic of me and my son on the farm:

I think TonyM has one of these too. Maybe. I thought I saw him wear one with some brazil logo on it. He still looked like a wad but The hat looked cool. :D

HA! Funniest thing I've heard all day! It would take more than that to bring my looks up a few notches! :p

He certainly does.

I was refering to the hat, not him looking like a wad!:p

Does it have a wire rim? Do you have to bend the rim back into shape after you crush it?

It would take alot of evidence to convince me that there is a hat out there that bests a Tilly. They are functionally perfect in my experience.

Fashion and wardrobe individuality is for teenagers :D

There's something wire-like in there. I've beat the hell out of this one over the last month or so, and shaped it back up in a few seconds for this pic.
