Who here wears a fixed blade?

I carry one of five fixed blade knives any time i leave the house
all in a horizontal cross draw sheath!

Shane Sibert Darius

Jerry Hossom Dogtag

Mercworx Orion

Greg Lightfoot C4

Matt Roberts Small fighter

Nobody ever notices i'm wearing one, not even the Darius which is a pretty good size knife

Sometimes I wear either my Gerber Yari or Camillus CUDA CQB-1, IWB, in the kydex sheaths they came with...Both of these carry very well, as they both have a fairly flat profile, while still having enough handle to be comfortable to hold and use.

I also wear my Gerber Yari on a pretty regular basis. Not EDC, thats what my BM940,800HS, and Bob Ogg slipjoint are for. I carry em all, but these are the ones that get carried most often. The Yari is a fantastic knife, and I like the sheath as well. It seems a lot of people dont like the sheath, but I love the fact you can carry it IWB as easy as you can open on your belt.

Another recommendation would be any Dozier straight knife with a horizontal kydex sheath. I have a Slim Outdoorsman with red bone scales that has seen a lot of use. As a matter of fact I broke the sheath (completely my fault, not at all the sheaths) and when I gave it to Bob, I had it back in less than a week, and he didnt charge me a penny. The knife rides right next to my belt buckle, doesnt get in the way, and people never even notice it...with the exception of knife knuts of course.

I wear a fixed blade every day. Mine is the Allen Blade Pack Pal, which is an amazing knife....I can't seem to ever leave it at home...

California laws prohibit concealed fixed blade carry, so I wear my Spyderco/Bob Lum FB in a Survival Sheath Systems chest rig, or my Benchmade Nimravus in the new 'fancy' sheath. It rides nicely and always stays in place on my right hip. I don't know how appropriate my Greco Whisper CT would be, but I might try it someday, after I find someone to "touch it up".:)

Blgoode, is your question referring to what make knife and sheath is recommended or a sheathmaker for a small blade you already have? Either way, you may want to look into a Dozier made at www.dozierknives.com

Their sheaths are superbly molded and offers excellent tension. The draw and resheathing makes a distinctive snap, an assurance that the sheath is working. The near horizontal cant offers a natural draw whether worn on the front strong side or crossdraw. Another great feature is the belt clip that allows for easy on and off the belt modes. And yes, their knives are the best using fix blades to be had at the right price.

I've got 2 new ones on the way that I'm gonna use for edc... A Busse Active Duty (Thanks Danbo) which I'll probably have to get a sheath made for, and I got a Strider SA off ebay the other day... I'm not sure which one I'm going to like more:)

Is there any chance some of you guys could post pics of the knife actually on you? You can chop off your head if you're concerned about that kind of thing. I'd just really like to see how you guys actually carry them.

TIA.

Mark

Thanks for the answers! I'll try a fixed blade as soon as I get it finished!

Hi knifedaddy84!
it work GREAT for fishing! it's a bit thick for kitchen duty as cut vegetables, but for meat and fish it's great!
The good thing about a bandicoot is that it actualy look like a fishing knife so it don't look "agressive" in a bag...(eventualy with fishing gear) but believe when needed for "tactical" purpose this knife is so handy and the grip so positive that you will love it!;)

Kelly Worden designed Sea Wolf from TOPPS. Very fast in the hand, nice utility/tactical blade design. Kydex scabbard with extremely strong clip for belt or boot carry.

Hey Greg, you don't count in this discussion. You have bad guys shooting at you all the time. :)

Sea Wolf is a great knife. I am carrying a Dozier small utility and soon will start to carry a Mad Dog Lab Rat. Can't wait for the few days it will take to get here.

Darn!

Forgot about that:grumpy:

Sorry. My bad. Just forget I said anything...:(

(Sea Wolf is a great knife, though:D )

I wear a fixed blade about 98% of the time. It has been a small Blackjack until today. I just finished a small fixed blade in 52100 and got the sheath today. The knife is almost the same as the small Blackjack.

A Polkowski Bandit necker or an
RJ Martin Trek IWB usually does it, at least until I move to CCW friendly Pennsylvania ("America Starts Here").
