Who impresses you?

Forumites I think deserve recognition:

Mike Cooper (L6Steel), TomW, maddog2020, MaxTheKnife.

The list could go on, but it sure would take up alot of space

Lots of people here who make this forum a great place to visit. I specifically want to acknowledge the makers who freely share their "tricks of the trade" so to speak. I've learned so much and acquired such a huge library of info from shop talk, that once I finally put my Grizzly to work, I will have a much better chance of success due to all the wonderful information they have shared. Through my experiences here, I've really developed a tremendous respect for knifemakers, who struggled to "make it" and/or continue to struggle to make ends meet. Sometimes, I really don't know how you do it, guys. It takes real dedication and a love for the craft, no doubt.

Also want to thank the moderators for keeping this site free and open but moderated--as it should be. You guys have done an outstanding job. And of course, kudos to Mike and Spark who make it all possible.

And rather than single out any one forumite, I just want to thank all those "regulars" who continually contribute and keep this place interesting, both with their humor, knowledge, and the patience to put up with some of my posts.

Never a dull moment here.

And always a learning experience.

And also I want to acknowledge the newbies who often take a pounding but stick around, putting up with our obsession, and making some of us amateurs look like we know something (or NOT

).

And BTW, Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope you all get great knives for Christmas!

I would have to say Mike and Spark for providing the stomping ground.

Oh yeah Tim Herman- he is truly a sweet man.

Hmmm what a tough question and as others have mentioned you are more than likely to leave out a few and feel like crap later!

But there are those that truly impress us and leave an impression on us for good or bad!

Knife makers...
Jimmy Fikes and Don Fogg for creating such plain out tough works of edged tools.

Fancy knives are lovely to look at but don't suit me....

Bladeforums members
Well I'd list them and the reasons but they do know who they are and I appreciate their friendship and help as always.

(taking the lowly way out so as not to forget anyone!!)

The dealer that impressed me the most is John Ferguson of Chief's Cutlery. He spends more time on that other forum, but he is a good and honest guy. As far as makers go, I have been very impressed with Neil Blackwood. He has been very patient with me and answered all of my questions very thoroughly. I just got my first knife from Neil today and it is a real beauty. Now with the forumites I have had the pleasure of dealing with I have to say they are all great. I have yet to run across someone that was not willing to go out of their way to help me out whether it ws with a question or a knife transaction. This place is full of great folks.

Dave,
Indoor plumbing?? Outhouse?? BWAHAHA!!!!
Thanks for the kind remarks.

Now, Who impresses me?
I am constantly impressed by the "BigTime" knifemakers who so willingly give up information that they have worked years to obtain to those of us that simply ask for it.
Of course, there are too many to list here.

Let me start off by saying that since my first knife show in '98 I've been impressed by the kindness of KnifeKnuts in general and knifemakers in particular. If there's a nicer bunch of people I don't know who they are?

I'm not a knifemaker, but I am very interested in the process of making knives I admire the people that go out of their way to share the knowledge that they had to learn on their own. Allen Blade, and Bruce Evans come to mind.

I've made many friends here these are the folks that have been very generous to me; Darrel Ralph, Mike Cooper, Sal Glesser, Don AKA Stab1, Max Burnett, Jake Evans, TomW, Art Washburn and Gary Graley.

I miss James Mattis every day here, his shoes will not be filled, the two moderators that have made his passing easier are GusK and Para.

Now, for the two people who made it all possible for us to meet here, MikeT and Spark.

This is list is in no way complete, but you others you know who you are.

Thanks to all that have helped with my addiction and made BF's my favorite place to go on the Net.

A wonderful Holiday Season to all.
