Who is a Fan of Bronze?

That's the question for ya all, who is a fan of the bronze coating?

I've stumbled across a couple pictures of this newish bronze coating, but it seems like it doesn't photograph well so it's hard to tell what it really looks like.

Is it a darker brown bronze, which would be cool - or is it more of a golden bronze? I'm all about getting and using a darker bronze blade, but not sure if a more golden blade is my style.

I know someone has some decent photos. Post em up! Also heard the bronze looked pretty good broken in, so let's see it.

Thanks!!

:D

Yes I am. I have heard it looks good worn. I don't have anyBusse bronze though.

Lol okay y'all this is what I'm talking about.

Not my pictures! Totally borrowed off the forum because these look bad as hell!

See here's my predicament. I've already talked myself into getting a BIG ASH1, but now I'm trying to decide if I need a Bronze Busse as well.

I really like the bronze. I don't have any knives in that color scheme but I have two shotguns that I've been wanting to have done in Cera-coat's "burnt bronze" color.

The bronze coating kind of reminds me of an old movie (maybe goldfinger?) where their were several ladies done up in makeup over their whole body with that color. It seems like one of the more fragile coatings as well.

Lol exactly lay what I'm getting at. It's hard to tell from the pics wehther I want to love it and own it, or hate it.

Yeah, after a little searching, it was definitely "Goldfinger" from 1964 where the girl gets killed, supposedly by gold suffocation... probably a good thing the Busse crew did not go with "Garthfinger" for the name of that particular color scheme. :foot: I have held a couple of the bronze coated blades and if they were mine, I would strip them right quick as the color just doesn't appeal to me, though the knives are full of potential.

Bronze Cerakoating with a slight silver glitter effect in it. I love it. Unlike what has been said, it is very tough... However the very, very slightly pebbly texture doesn't interact too well with some leather (when the leather is "hugging" the blade more from being a thinner spare low-cost sheath at least), but then neither does the Model 18's broad guard work at all in a Spec Ops sheath (the 14's guard works ok in Spec Ops. The narrowed 18 guard did work perfectly in an old Eagle sheath)...

The guard had to be trimmed below the lashing holes, because Randall put it on completely and horribly askew (The blade is also not perfectly straight to the handle, but like a "bent" Vietnam Mk II that does helps here...: I'm not gambling on another 18 any time soon)... The smaller guard doesn't look great, but works much, much better with the relatively narrow (long OOP) Eagle nylon sheath it sits in now (from an Al Mar Special Warfare)...

Gaston, those are nice. :) However, I believe the OP is specifically asking about the bronze coating that was offered over the past year on some Bussekin blades that is most certainly not cerakote tough as his second post with the pics demonstrates. It is kind of like a powdercoat or paint that can be easily stripped with paint stripper and most of them are bronze over black which shows up quickly with use.

In the colour family of bronze I think rose gold bolster and hilt might look classy.

To me it looks a bit more on the gold side. IMO it looked good, not a flashy gold.

I have a bronze TGLB and Gladius. It's not a real flashy golden bronze IMO. The picture of the TGLB above seems a bit overexposed; like the flash was on and bleached out the photo. My wife looks for any way to make fun of my stuff, and she would have jumped all over my bronze knives if they looked like something out of Goldfinger. She has never said a word.

I just can't warm up to coated blades, and since infi doesn't rust easily, I don't see the point. Its a personal thing, but for me if trying to avoid the high polish to keep the price down, i prefer a competition or BIG finish. Paint is for walls, knives should show the steel. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I will confess however, I occasionally get temped by the black and grey urban shadow camo blades like you sometimes see in the old terror monkey argonne assaults... Those are definitely cool.
