Who is buying these new Benchmades?

Sounds more like it's time to move and save on the taxation and cost of doing business. The price may not go down with the relocation expense but it could maybe minimally increase instead of being so dramatic every time something is going to subtract from profit margin/drive up prices.
With all due respect, this is yet another "outsider" trying to decide what's best for Benchmade. I'm pretty sure the executives at Benchmade know what's best for Benchmade way better than any of us here.

If the intent is just a thread to blow off steam about Benchmade prices, so be it. But don't expect any real change.

In general, anyone that expects prices to go down, on much of anything really, is going to be disappointed in today's world.

I’m certainly not against spending that amount of money on a knife that I like, I have a couple CRKs and a Sonora, had Hinderers, etc. but the last couple Benchmades I handled that were supposedly in that price range just weren’t it.
My opinion is they are selling to guys who are either collectors or just Benchmade fanboys.
Nothing inherently wrong with that but for that money I could personally get something far more substantial.

I picture posting a comment on a forum more as conjecture than having any ability to pretend I have insider knowledge or a business degree in knifeology.

But what makes me have that thought is the firearms manufacturers than are slowly moving away from unfriendly states to favorable ones.

I buy about one per year. Half of them I purchase used. Benchmade has the biggest markups on production knives in recent years. I only buy them new if there is a sale and I have some rewards points or a gift card to offset cost. I just don’t think they are worth their retail or street price.

This is no joke this matter is serious I had called to speak with Benchmade representative his name was Adolfo I was told that it is common practice to spend x amount of money on a blade that is fixed or folding or automatic assisted for the knife to be off centered and not perfect as long as it opens and closes it's all it counts I had told the representative I shall be letting the public know therefore I have a responsibility to the public to let you know out of respect

Ooh ya, this is serious. So serious you forgot how to punctuate😏

You're seriously worried about punctuation I could care less about that at this point I was just informing the public of what the representative of Benchmade told me

I love the seven ten, but is it worth the $500 price tag…. Hell no!! Luckily I didn’t pay full retail price for it!!!View attachment 2673270
I was excited when I first read, they were bringing it back. Then I see the price, which may have been worth it with a Ti handle but nope it's cheap aluminum. I really liked their Snody HK stuff back in the day. I wish they would bring that back at an affordable price of course.

At $560 and $580 on the website, slightly discounted at dealers, who is buying these? Anyone have an opinion?

My opinion is that Benchmade has lost their minds.

But I’m genuinely wondering if they’re selling, and to whom?

So agreed. At one time, the Benchmade prices were high, but there was a value that went with it. Now, I simply can’t accept myself if I paid over five bills for this so-called Narrows, or whatever. And regardless of the cost, the Shootout is a terrible knife right out of the box.
I have several Benchmade knives from back in the day, but nothing I’ve recently seen from them seems worth the money

Prices are up for most goods these days. We are still a free market economy, at least until tariffs kick in. I'm sure OP will find some brand to fit his budget.

That Adolpho, always with the jokes on the phone. What a card.

In what way is the Shootout terrible? I've had zero problems with mine since I picked it up.

It's been years since I bought a new Benchmade. The ones I have are still fine. More than fine actually.
In a few years you'll be hearing the same thing from people buying them today.
