I am headed Practice What You Preach weekend first thing tomorrow...... Who am I gonna see other than the Tradewaters.....?????....

Many moons past, the esteemed Terrill Hoffmann, knife and gun scribe, photographer extraordinaire, and reasonably decent human, got irritated with a number of web ninjas, and wilderness web poseurs and invited them to Chestnut Mountain for a weekend of practicing what you preach....... People share skills, sell stuff, talk, bs and gossip, eat a lot of good food......Beer and other liquid intoxicants have been known to be consumed in very parsimonious quantities.......Many friendships have been formed....... The first year I went there were maybe a dozen denizens either under tarps or swinging mostly....... It has grown and evolved........ Gonna be sixty people maybe this year.......Tarp dwellers and swingers are still in attendance but, there are a few vehicular additions, tents large and small........ The fellowship is grand .....

I took a lot of pointers from Brother Hoffmann when I first started the Beckerhead Gatherings, Terrill's benevolent, hospitable dictatorship is what I tried to duplicate...... Be safe, have fun, do not be an a-hole,do not bring a politically correct attitude, be tolerant of others' failings....Basics........Be prepared to laugh a lot.....

Space is always limited.......

The gatherings, PWYP and the "pit" at BLADE Show are the highlights of my year........ GOOD times! Woot-Woot......

Can't swing it this year. Blade show, Gathering(s) and a trip down to Barlow will eat up my vacation time.

As far as your hospitality Boss, it is unparalleled.

Have a safe and fun trip. See if you can find somebody to operate a camera for you while you're there, bring back pictures!

Wish I could be there - crazy time of year at work and its hard to get away. Can't wait to hear stories about the trip!

Here are a few. Flickr is a little more flickery than usual for some reason but I did get some uploaded.

Saw an awful lot smiling Ethan.

Lots of nice sharps.

Teepees. Heated no less.

AIG testing a tracker design.

L. T. Wright watching Chance giving a blacksmithing lesson.

There were zombie shoots, chopping contests, slingshot competition and classes. Ethan ran the chopping contest with Joe Flowers helping.

Marty Simon gave a plant ID class.

Joe Flowers giving a fire class.

Ethan explaining the rules of cat racing to Jim Nowka.

Scrambled eggs were cooked three dozen at a time. Kay loading the skillet....

...and the chef does his magic.

Meat was plentiful and delicious. Doc and I loading the spit with a sizable piece of cow.

Much fellowship. Learned a bunch, shared a little.

The setting was beautiful.

Casa de tradewater for four days.

Some great times for sure.

Looks like a blast.
That knife table pic was such a tease...

Looks like a great time

That is Chance Sanders. He's an urban survival specialist with a series of good videos out and a fine fellow.

On Thursday night brother E treated us to the "pork loin of death". It was a thing of beauty and so good only a poet could describe it. Friday night, someone produced another pork loin and Ethan created the MOAL (mother of all loins). It was actually better than the night before. Doc made a batch of fresh greens, Kay made some fried pies and we nearly killed ourselves with goodness. I can truthfully say I have never had better fare under the stars.
