. The knives were on loan to the factory and when the shutdown occurred they were all auctioned off before he was aware of what was happening.

That breaks my heart!! Following that thought, I wonder if knives I have bought and sold over the years, were mis-appropriated from that collection!!
I guess you can't put spilled milk back in the bottle, but what a travesty!!
