I PM'd Mike about this thread.

He is the President of Bark River Knife and Tool Company.

He is not a member here, so here is his response:

I did design the Becker Brute back in the mid 1990s.

I don't Own Blackjack anymore - Not since 1997.

Ken Warner Owned it from 1998 until 2008.

The Current Owners of BJK are Blue Ridge Knives and I make all of the U.S. Made Classic Line of the Blackjacks.( I am in the process of making about 300 of the BJKs right now)

I do make knives for a number of other Companies but BJK is the only one that we can disclose at this time.

It looks like we will be making the New Scagel line of knives starting in a couple of months and that will not be a secret.

Good point - looks as if I got caught up in the conversation, and not the question. Sleepless nights with a new baby will do that to you - so be forewarned.

been there.
Done that.
The sleepless nights don't stop when they are no longer babies.

Mike designs and makes great knives. Regardless of how busy his shop is, he has always taken the time to answer any questions promptly and fairly. I wish I had a buck for each time he has personally taken to explain convex edges to the those unfamiliar (at one time myself). Most importantly, he sells no nonsense knives that perform very well, and at a fair price.

didn't you understand?

Here's a big pink donut for the forum police. Now go back to sleep.

That is quite enough from the peanut gallery.
If you are not able to post facts with respect you should not be posting the this forum.

Hum, I wonder if this is why Northwoods Knifworks, the owner of the Scagle name, is low on inventory?

Knives Ship Free (knivesshipfree.com) now owns the Scagel name, and Bark River will be making the knives for them that will be sold under that name.

good to know where the brute came from. thank you RNST
it was my favorite becker. I sold my camillus beckers. I have since regretted it and purchased some k bar models but there will be no brute.
