Went deer and pig hunting in South Texas last weekend for four days with a group that has hunted together for several years.
We always manage to have some luck, and all of the animals are brought back to the cleaning rack. A few usually do the cleaning work while others "supervise."
Anyway, they use all kinds of different knives including a few "customs" with fancy scales.
This year, I had a few Phil Wilsons, and put them out on the table. I skinned, quartered, and trimmed a deer, and then did a pig. Then I went onto another deer. One guy looks and laughs and says, "no way can you use a knife after working on a pig." Well, the Phil Wilson (K294) worked right on through with ease, and I never once touched it up with anything. The guy is an experienced hunter and took notice. Then he and another picked up a Phil Wilson off of the table and gave them a try. They were saying, "hmmm….." "this is nice…" "damn nice…"
Finally, one of the guys looks up and says, "Who is this Phil Wilson?"
Props to Phil, the fan club grows. Truly the best of the best, and I have plenty of other fine knives for comparison.
What a joy and honor to own and use such fine craftsmanship.
