Who is your favorite Batman?

As a former comics geek, I'd have to say Batman is my favorite superhero. While he's a rich guy, he has trained himself both mentally and physically to such an extent, that he is almost superhuman.
As far as which actor looks like him, I'd have to say a fit Alec Baldwin (long long time ago), would have looked the most like him from the comics.

I never really liked the Adam West portrayal, too campy, I know that was the point of the show. Val Kilmer might've looked like what the comics portrayed a little bit, but Batman Forever was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Batman and Robin, I've never seen that, and from the few Ahnuld scenes I've seen made fun of on certain tv shows, I didn't miss much. So, George Clooney as Batman. One of the dumbest ideas ever in cinema.

That comes down to two. Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. I think that Michael Keaton was great in the first Batman, Jack stole the movie, but Michael was still pretty good. I didn't like Batman Returns too much. Batman Begins was the current comic book Batman. Crazy rich guy that is probably as nuts as the criminals he hunts down. Since I grew up with the Michael Keaton Batman, I'm torn for my fanboy excitement about the Bale Batman portrayal. I have much love for both Batman and Batman Begins, but I'd have to say Batman Begins is my favorite of the two, so I'll go with Christian Bale's portrayal. I don't think that Michael Keaton looked too much like Batman from the comics, but he got the character. When they casted Bale as Batman, they got the look, and Bale brought the character into the 21st century. Maybe I just see Mr Mom in a Batman suit when I think of the first Batman movie?

And hey, that tank is a helluva lot cooler than the car from the first one...

Adam West. No one comes close to the original.

When we discuss how a given big screen performance is "true to the comics version," it's imperative that we specify which comics! The original Batman compared to the Batman of the late 50s/early 60s compared to the late 60s/early 70s, compared to the ... etc.

Some have been virtual reinventions of the character and some have been more popular than others.

Christian Bale was by far the best Batman. As far as him being an accoplished actor? I'd say he's already one.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale

And has been one since 1987 - when, in Spielberg's "Empire of The Sun", playing the part of Jim "Jamie" Graham, he acted rings around John Malkovich.

Bale was awesome in a movie called the machinist. He did it right before Batman Begins and lost a huge amount of weight for it.

Paul

He also gave an oscar caliber performance in the lead character of "Jim" in Empire of the Sun.

Who is my Favorite Batman? Without a doubt Adam West!

My least favorite Batman is Harry Dunn, Never heard of him? Back in the 60's and early 70's there was an outfit in Detroit and Toledo called Big Time Wrestling. There were a few big name wrestlers like Dick The Bruiser and Wild Bull Curry. But most were minor local wrestelers with not much showman talent and no gimick. Harry Dunn was one of those. He dressed up in a Batman suit and wrestled under the name Batman. I saw him on the Big Time Wrestling tv show maybe once or twice as a kid. Harry was my least favorite Batman not because he was a one trick pony in wrestling, but because when he was in his 50's and a salesman for Unisys he used to come in to the place where I tended bar and annoy me for a couple of hours 3 or 4 times a week. He would drink 2 beers order a meal and want to talk my ear off and then tip me a buck on a $20 tab. Or worse, He would chase off one of my better tipping customers by talking their ear off and trying and sell them golf lessons.

I didn't know that was him. Neat.

Keaton was pretty good, Bale was as well. It's always the same, comic fans are always going to be pissed of with whoever is cast in their favourite superhero role, for example, as someone who had read 2000AD more or less since the start
imagine my dismay when some fool cast Stallone as Judge Dredd.:barf:
My favourite Batman was the one given to us by Frank Miller in "The Dark Knight Returns". Now that would make one hell of a movie, but who would you cast as an older Batman?

I would have to say Christian Bale. I enjoyed "Batman Begins" the most because it showed the transformation of Bruce Wayne into Batman.

Interesting that Cindy posted a shoto of Caesar Romero as the Joker. If you look at the list of actors that played the villans in the Adam West Batman series, you'll a list of top names in movies, radio, and stage. There's even some Academy Award winners. Here's a partial list:

Michael Rennie
Van Johnson
Art Carney
Roddy McDowall
Shelly Winters
Cliff Robertson
Otto Preminger
John Astin
Vincent Price
Carolyn Jones
Liberace
Maurice Evans
Eli Wallach
Joan Collins
Milton Berle
Rudy Vallee
Zsa Zsa Gabor

How may different Riddlers were there? How about Mr Freeze's?

Michael Keaton, hands down.
I'm not old eneugh to really remember Adam West, so I vote for Keaton. Bale did a good job, but the martial arts scenes were pretty lame.

Bale was the BEST Batman ever, and "Begins" follows the comic book more closely than the 1st Keaton movie. I used to like Keaton until I watched the 1st movie again the other day and realizd his performance doesnt come close to what Bale brought to Batman. As for as West.... he was great in his time, but to compare his performance to Bales.....come on! As far as Kilmer and Clooney, I don't even acknowledge the exsistance of those movies. They are an embarrassment to the Batman series, past and present. I look forward to any new movies Bale plays in.....especially as Batman. American Psycho was another great movie of his.

I loved that comic too. It would have to be heavily re written for today, but I have no idea who could play Batman from that story. A guy who is fit for his age and in his 60's.
