It was a tough decision between Alton Brown and Paula Dean, but I had to tip my hat to Paula. Brown, Dean, and Rae seem to be the few FoodNetwork stars whose recipes actually work. Most of the other chefs tend to leave things out or mess a bit with the printed recipe (I guess it's job security). Alton's very entertaining, and his food works and is great (still have to try the homemade gyro meat), but Paula cooks the way I wish I could eat, you know, if heart disease and obescity weren't real concerns.
Mario Batale's just a egotistical jerk that has to overcomplicate everything. So's Bobby Flay, but for some reason I find him pretty entertaining and a lot of the competitors' recipes from Throwdown are great.
