...still refraining...:( :o :grumpy:

My vote?

Bura.

Reason?

Bill said so.

:p

Oh...my reason?

My Bura-made are the best of the bunch. Even the blems are nicer.

I'm partial to Sher made khukuris. I like the way he grinds his edges, it's very easy for me to get a reeeal sharp edge on a Sher made khukuri. A very close second would surely be Bura. My first ever khukuri was a BAS made by Bura, and as with all of Bura's khuks it has it's own spirit. Besides the man has guts! No question about it. I'd like to meet him someday.

My preference goes to Bura. For all the reasons, Unnca Bill said. That 16.5" chiruwa AK with the finger grooves is perfect for me. Next would be Sher. My first K was a 18" AK by Sher. It's a Chopper with a capital C. But practically all of my other K's are Bura.

Bura for me.

Second place would be a tie between Durba, Sanu, Kesar, Sher, Kumar and KNN.

Nothing against the new guys, I just don't have any of their blades (yet).

Don't know who made my earliest khukuris, as they were not marked. They are not as polished or fitted quite as well as what Pala is sending over now, but every bit as tough as anything new. Of the ones marked, guess my favorites are the ones Durba made. But then I've not seen a bad one made by any of the kamis & some of the new ones feel just as good, I think. Ain't no junk in the HI warehouse.

My first khukuri from HI was a Sanu World War II. Sanu was the best. Then I bought a BGRS by Bura. Bura became my favourite. Then I got a Chiruwa AK by Kesar. Kesar was by far the best. My last khukuri was a M43 by Kumar. Kumar's now King. Who's my favourite next week. Probably depends on my next purchase.

makes me think that certain kamis are best at ceretain khuk types. Sanu whipped out the best AK Bowie, and a decent YCS. Sher makes the serious AKs and other heavy models (but he also made a huge run of Kagas Katnes, if memory serves), Bura can do everything from Kothimodas to Kumar Kardas, Kesar makes a mean Gelbu Special, and so on. Bura and Sanu seemed to work on special projects, like the movie model, Pen knife and the HI "falcata", and a few guys got to work on the Trishul decker.

I can't wait to see who got to work on the HI Seaxes...
