If you look at the chart you will find that the Mang. content changes from grade to grade. One of the reasons for this is that if they are going for a particular #(say 1085) and they don't quite hit the mark they still have a designation.
For instance, the last batch of 1084 fell into 1085 specs. It also falls into the specs. for 1074, 1075, 1078, 1080 and 1085. The reality is I could call the stuff I got ,pretty much, any one of these and still be right.
If the Mang. was 1 point higher on the 1084 I have, which is .90 (not .89 as previously mentioned) I would have had to call it 1085.
If the batch that is on its way, has even 3 or 4 points to much mang, is it going to make a difference performance wise. I doubt it. It might etch a little darker in your Damascus, but I doubt anyone could tell the difference.
