Hi,
This is my first post under this name. I used to go by will22 on the forum but forgot my password so just made a new name. Anyway I bought a large double edged knife from a pawn shop a few years back and just realized that it makes a great throwing knife. The blade is aproximately 7 inches long in goes all the way through the handle. There are plastic scales on each side of the handle and the end of the slab of steel goes past the scales. there is a lanyard hole in the middle of this protruding slab. the blade has an inch and a half of serations on both sides above the guard and is stamped valor 440 stainless seki japan. I dont think it is a particularly expensive knife. It doesnt have much of a practical use but I have never found anything that throws as well as this so I would like to pick up a few more.

Your description is pretty general. Pictures would help. Especially any that show markings at the base of the blade.

You might ask on the knife throwing forum as well.

There was a Valor brand from the 70's - early 80's too, I have a similar double edged knife I bought new in '84 , it's a little smaller , full tang but has a stag handle and no hilt. It's also made in Japan and marked "Valor 440 Stainless". I"ll look at mine again when I get home, but yours could be from the 80's too.
