I've had this for a number of years, not a mark on it, an exceptional Scandinavian-style double-edged Fighter/Sheath.....looks like a Roger Berg?

Cast Bronze guard/finial, Walrus Ivory(?), hardwoods, and great Damascus....it's a very substantial knife....7" blade, 12 1/4" OAL.

Thanks for your help.... :)

Is it a take-down? If you can disassemble it, you might find a mark on the tang.

Nice knife!

If it is a Berg, then it could be worth some serious money. i saw him sell a small damascus "art axe" at the Belgian show in 2009 or 2011 for 20,000 Euros cash folding money, which at the time would have been somewhere between $26 and 28K in 'Murican greenbacks.

Thank you, Phillip!

Never thought about twisting on that finial but it came right apart....:)

Made by Fred Ott and so marked under the guard.

Hey Dudley,

What did you pay for it, and what do you feel that it is worth?

I like that Fred Ott's work. He follows his muse, that's for sure.

STeven, I really don't remember but it wouldn't have been a lot because that's really not the style of knives I've collected. I think it was around $300 because the Maker was 'unknown'.

I've got a couple of other pieces from Fred but totally different so I did not recognize it.

I would imagine that knife from Fred would be in the $1000-$1200 range...what it's worth would be up to the Buyer I reckon. ;)

Good get then, Dudley!! There is a lot of work in that piece, if I found it for that price would buy it in a NY minute!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
