Who Made your New Slipjoint?

German Eye is now distributed by Clarence Risner. If you go to the Olbertz website and look up "partners" one of them is C. Risner Cutlery, and the e-mail address is risnereyebrand@aol.com. I corresponded with Mr. Risner a few years ago and he confirmed he had obtained the rights to the Eye Brand trademark.

Indian Head is another Clarence Risner brand, made in the Olbertz factory.

Shapliegh's is another Parkers brand made in the Olbertz factory.

Great thread -- thanks for doing this!

Jim Bowie = another Risner brand made by Olbertz

There are a number of other USA made Bulldog knives. The 2007+ series are:

1. Stag Gunstock - 3 3/4" - 100 pieces by Queen. 2007
2. Rams Horn 2-blade Mnt. Man Trapper - 4 5/8" - 100 pieces by Queen 2007
3. Pearl Horticulturist Knife - 3 5/8" - 100 pieces by Queen 2007
4. Diamond Cut Pearl Sunfish - 3 5/8" - 100 pieces by Queen 2008
5. Stag Muskrat- 4 1/8" - 100 pieces by Great Eastern 2008
6. Stag Whittler - 3 1/2" - 100 pieces by Queen 2008
7 Rams Horn Scout 1-blade - 3 7/8" - 100 pieces by Great Eastern 2009

Bulldog has had others made in the US. I have an older 3 backspring bone-handled whittler dated 1995 that I think was made by Queen.

Hi eswartz, Thanks for these Models. Obviously you are an informed collector.

Where did you locate all this info? If it is in a Book I would appreciate knowing the Title/Author.

Thanks again.

I just bought the first Stag Gunstock when it came out and then kept track of the releases as they came out. I have the #1 Gunstock and the #7 Whittler.

I believe the information is right, but I have not vetted every knife as to specs.

I should be clear that there is only one USA made Sunfish pattern. I guess I need to figure out which one above is right, I am not sure on the size or positive about the year.

Ok I think this is right for the Bulldog. (I was wrong about the handle material, the size and the order. D'oh)

#4. Diamond Cut Pearl Sunfish - 3 5/8" - 100 pieces by Queen 2008

I edited my previous post.

This whole thread has some great info.

I stopped at SMKW yesterday and picked up a Bulldog stag and drooled over some of their high priced older collectable knives. It is amazing to see some of the BS that folks buy there, but they sure do have some nice things to go with the cheapies.

The last group of Henkels that are still available were made by Boker. I did not see them on your list.

For collectors it might be good to know who made them in the past as well as currently. For example, Rigid's were German, then Canal Street/Queen partnership, now chinese. But many collectors will miss some fine knives if they ignore the Rigid because of a chinese prejudice (not speaking to the good/bad of that issue)...

Bulldog has not had a German knife for a while; all current production are Queen or GEC.

Canal Street should say all "current" models as their original series included some parts assistance from Queen.

Case has had knives made by Camillus and Boker in the past.

Cinch: I don't think all are mode in Germany, some are Argentina as well.

Cripple Creek: All current models are GEC, with some Queen on the way.

Fight'n Rooster had at least one Japanese model made back in the day.

Hen & Rooster has quite a few patterns made by Olbertz.

Rigid were made in Germany, then some by Canal Street/Queen, now China.

Winchester is totally chinese now, only pre-2002 were Queen.

I have a nice micarta scaled canoe stockman from NRA Knives. They are under a Benchmade contract. I forgot where it was made. I think Taiwan but I'm not 100%. I will check when I get home.

Good to see some new folks taking a look at this list, I thought it was dead and buried.

For collectors it might be good to know who made them in the past as well as currently.

As I stated in my original post, this was a journey to find out about New knives of current production, there are just too many factors re older knives to include that info here (however, I did include some historical data for one avid collector who was able to document his information).

STDK - Thanks for that info, I will add it to the list.

I don't believe that all Gerber knives are made in China. I know some are.

As far as I know, the current Remington Bullet knives are made by Bear & Sons. I believe they are spin off from Case rather than Parker. Camillus previously made the Remington Bullet Knives.

One more to add, there are some new production Imperial's that are Chineese.

I vote to make this a sticky. I've been looking all over for this list and just hadn't been able to come up with the right search words. I just accidentally stumbled upon it. Thank all of you who added such great information. Please keep the updates coming...

Mike
