Does anybody know who makes a good brass/metal waterproof matchcase with a compass on top? Where could I find it on the web ? Thanks

Hi Grantdouglas,

Go take a look at Campmor:
http://www.campmor.com/webapp/commerce/command/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=226&prrfnbr=52135

It's made of Aluminium but by Silva, Luminous liquid filled compass on cap is attached with lanyard. Top quality, lightweight aluminum with textured finish for easy opening. Dual gaskets on cap provide extra protection. 3 11/16 in. x 7/8 in. Color: Black Wt. 1oz. Made in USA. $15.99

If you want to order one let me know and you could perhaps order 2 and I'll send you $16 + postage for Holland (about $1)

But They have other one's also that are a lot cheaper, made from plastic with whistle, compass, flint and match case for $3.99 I think. Also a nickel plated brass one without compass for $2.99 just go to Campmor and have a look.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

A plastic film canister with duct tape or other waterproof tape to help seal would work as well!

I believe you will find exactly what you are looking for at Cabela's.I'm sure it's also available elsewhere but I haven't seen it. It is solid brass and catalogued along with the aluminum version at about $15. Double o-ring sealed. [I've had mine pressureize on airplanes] I got mine a few years back and have never looked for another. It's marketed by Silva [with a Silva compass in the cap.] It is made however, by a small machine shop that includes it's brochure with the safe. Excellent machine work and knurled top and bottom. FYI, I always cut off an emery board and slide it in my match safe. If everything around is wet, I still have a dry striker which can be as valuable as dry matches. Hope this helps.
