who makes a good folding karambit (not Emerson or 5.11)?

I've owned the Spyderco model, and sold it off. It is a very thin knife, and was uncomfortable to hold. I also found that it was too flexible, as it only has a couple pins holding the body/scales together. If Spyderco had installed a solid backspacer, it would have increased the "feel" of the knife dramatically.

I better throw on my asbestos undies for this one.

But I'm still really happy with my Mantis kerambit. It does have a 420 blade and a chisel ground blade, but it is razor sharp and is fairly decent considering everything. If you want one to start with, you can't go wrong with it.

I have a Mantis MK-1 folding karambit. It really isn't bad for the price range. They are not well liked for the marketing but it is worth the small price tag as a functional folding karambit if the framelock locks up properly. I opened up about 7 new ones when I bought mine and found the quality control of the locking bar engagement to be hit or miss.

out of the two that you don't want; the 5.11 is the one to get. it is the single best folder in your price range regarding steel (s30v) and the handle materiel (g10). the only other ones to consider are the emerson models, which get kinda pricy. i personally own two of the 5.11 for the reasons listed. the only other ones that i have considered are those from Mantis knives

ditto!

Hmmm. Anyone ever consider waving the 5.11 karambit?

It was me... I'm pretty sure. I've done about 5 or so 511 kbits. I'd really like to wave Hammer27's Spyderco kbit.

And, yes, you can open a beer with my waves.
