Who makes a good keychain knife?

I have been using a leatherman micro on my keychain for the last couple of years as a backup to my regular pocket knife. I just want something different.

I have been looking at the Victorinox Swiss Army in metal handle configuration but wanted to see what else is out there.

I'm looking for something slim yet durable. I'd like to stay around 3" folded length.

Here are some 2 inch keychain knives that I've carried and liked for various reasons:

For durability - Spyderco Ladybug in Stainless Steel at 1.2oz.
For light weight - Spyderco Ladybug in FRN at .6oz.
For extremely thin - Gerber STL 2.0 Fine Edge at 1.0oz.

Or you can do what I recently did. I started with a SOG A-C-01 E-Clip 2in Lock Back at .7oz.
I removed the keychain clasp and unscrewed the thumbstud. Then I cut off the plastic pocket clip with a dremel.
Now it's only .6oz which is the same as the Spyderco Ladybug FRN and was less than half the cost.

Boker Keycom.
Kabar Mini Dozier Hunter (definitely light enough to go on a keychain).
Byrd Starling or Finch
CRKT McGinnis Shrimp

If you can handle the size and weight, a Leatherman PS4 would be groovy. It is more or less the same size as your Micra, and gives you scissors, plier and drivers.

If you are wanting to go very thin and light weight, a Victorinox Classic with Alox is about as light as you can go. The Classic with standard scales is also a winner.

spyderco ladybug is a good option. you can get them in VG10, H1 (normal and SE hawkbill blade) and ZDP189.

I got both, PS4 is a little shorter but thicker,
to me I like PS4 more cause it had both pliers and scissors.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. There are some good looking ones in there.

I had ordered a Victorinox Secretary. It looked great for what I wanted. I got it and there was no keyring on it. That was a big let down. I mean it's a good little knife but the whole objective was to have it on my keychain.

I have been looking at couple of the "888 professional" models but I can't find any for sale anywhere.

Anybody here know where any are for sale? Specifically the Wrightknife or S.O.L. models.

The Vic Classic, Rambler, Manager, Signature, etc ... any of the 58mm Vics. They make excellent keychain knives and can be found dirt cheap. I really don't like anything larger or heavier on a keychain, myself. Even the Vic Minichamp is too heavy for a keychain, IMHO. And the Leatherman Micra (which I own) is borderline. I carry a Vic Classic on my keychain every single day.

A. G. Russell 3" lockback. Spyderco Manbug.

The A. G. Russell 3" knives are great and come with different scales: Ti, carbon fiber, pearl and Chinese quince. But if you want even smaller, look at his A.G. Russell Ultimate Pen Knife - Titanium. It's has a bail for attaching to key ring(comes with a small ring) and it's only 2" with a 1.5" blade of VG-10 and only $20. The spyderco Manbug and Ladybug knives are also good knives and come in different steels and blade styles.

Hak is a hide away knife made by a woman named frontsight . It is a small fixed blade that is very useful. I carry mine on my keychain so it is always in easy reach.

I use the Spyderco Ladybug and Victorinox Alox Classic the most, they are lightweight and lots of variations (handle colors etc.) and design wise they look great too. The Leatherman MTs are too heavy for a keychain IMO.

I have a Kershaw LFK on my keys, as well as a Micra. :D

First-runner-up to the LFK was a Spyderco Lady Bug, which lost out only because of cost, obviously not quality.

The Victorinox Rambler is the best keychain knife I've had yet. Can't recommend it enough...
