I wonder how other makers protect their leather from wet though, if they do.

I have use Browning leather coating which I don't know if it's still available but the closest that I've seen is this stuff which looks exactly like the Browning that I use.

I always make them myself. That's not difficult and always fun. You should try it yourself, you'll like it!

You better ask locals about the specific sources, but in general some knife and EDC themed stores sometimes have a nice leather too, often overpriced but in some cases not.

Here's some of my slips. First one on the right is for GEC 97 specifically. Middle one is more universal, but mostly for bigger than medium patterns, like GEC 65. One on the left is my recent attempt to make a slip that theoretically should stay in vertical position in the pocket, got to try that one soon. For I don't appreciate when slip goes horizontal and makes me look like I have a stick in my pocket, or else.

I like the oversized slips with square bottoms because they ride like a wallet in my back pocket. I’m thinking Northwoods size even. I also like them on the thin side.
