Only manufacturers, no custom or single handemade are questioned.

Which manufacturer (Benchmade, Spyderco, Gerber, Emerson, MOD....) has the best heat treated blades made from 154CM.

Not geometrie or cutting abillity is asked. Only steel properties based on own view.

Benchmade they seem to have come up with the right formulae for 154CM at 58-60HRC. The Nimravus is awesome and they do a good job with 440c and N690 too. What knives did Spyderco use 154CM in??

Another vote for Benchmade. My benchmite is probably the best small cutter I have, or have ever worked with.

I only have one , a Camillus, and have been very happy with it .

I'm happy with my Benchmade Ares in 154CM. It also sharpens easier, so I hear, compared to the D2 and M2 variants.

the only 154CM blades i own are a Benchmade Nimravus and a Camillus Cuda Jr. personally, i'd say the Camillus 154CM is a bit tougher, but Benchmade's holds a superior edge.

I love Benchmade but I have to go with Microtech. I have three MT's and they seem to hold an edge longer than any other 154CM blades that I have. Of course this is not a very accurate way for me to judge which company has the best steel. Just a local observation.

My last EDC was a Benchmade with ATS 34 (a variant of 154 CM I believe). This may be ab apples to oranges comparison, but my new Microtech with 154CM seems to hold an edge much longer, so i would assume it has higher abbrasion resistance.

Nothing more did i expect than personal view and how it has developed.

Thanx alot.

Yes i do think so too. Their ATS34 has a bad reputation. Hard to sharpen and doesn´t hold an edge.

They usually change such blades to 154CM on demand.

Which one do you have?

You think the better edge holding depends on the higher hardness? Guess, MT runs them at exactly HRC60. Right?

Any problems with chipping with MT?

Benchmade is the best when it comes to 154CM.

Man, :D :D

no other vote was expected. :D :D

Anything observed, on what your opinion is based?

Personal observation. Not sience.

So, to everyone, who has answered.

If not told, please tell me why you expect your favorite to be the favorite.

Any broken blades with others, didn´t hold an edge.....?

I have an older BM 730 that chipped on the edge when an Emerson CQC-7 didn't. I haven't put the newer BM ht to the test since they lowered the hardness though. I still stick with Emerson, based on my prior experiences... but to be honest, I don't use my folders hard enough to tell which ones hold an edge best.

It's hard to make a direct comparison of the different manufacturers when the blade grind and edge profile are different. Apparent differences in edge holding can easily be due to differences in edge geometry.

Having said that, Buck uses ATS-34 (virtually the same as 154CM) in several knives, heat treated by Paul Bos. Given equivalent edge geometry, I'd put my money on a Bos heat treated piece.

In my opinion it's Emerson! Ive beat the crap out of my Commander and it keeps cumming back for more! Im really a Spyderco devotee though, but I pull no punches and tell it like it is.
