You might want to take a look at the Fehrman Peace Maker. Its got a great feel to it. check out http://www.fehrmanknives.com/knives.htm
They make a very tough blade from CPM3V.
If I understand it right, you want tough knife made from carbon steel?
Justin Gingrich (rangerknives.com) made RD4 for Theknifecollector I think.
If you want knife of that look (and with plastic handle ) you might want to look at Fallkniven F1 (but that one is stainless). Anyway it is considerably tough - laminated vg10 with 420
I had an SRK & it was a bear to sharpen. This guy at work bought it from me & I was happy as heck to sell it! He was a Survival freak & wanted it to dig Foxholes. He told me it did a great job at that! Hey, whatever floats your boat!  :barf: :barf:
I kind of like a blade with a straight clip, but you don't see too many anymore. They are either drop point like the pics above, or curved like a bowie. The SRK has a straight clip, hence my using that as a model, just shorter.
The FSKs 440C blade is about 4 ½ long, .170 thick with a full tang, and removable G10 scales (in a choice of 3 colors) and comes with an custom Kydex sheath from Normark at On Scene Tactical!
My choice would be the Bark River Gameskeeper. It's full tang, A2 steel, convex ground, 4.25" blade and 9.1" overall. My Cold Steel Master Hunter is a very good blade, but not in the same class as the Gameskeeper.
You might also want to check out a Benchmade Rant (Clip-point model).
I also agree with the choice above by Alan.Gao. That Fallkniven S1 is hard to beat. Good knife with good steel and this model is also available with a black blade if desired.
The Benchmade Rant comes with a shorter 4" blade and has a 440C steel blade. The 440C blade is good steel but not nearly as good as the Fallkniven's VG-10 laminated steel blade.
