Looking for a karambit style knife. In the $75 and under true retail category, what do you suggest?

er, never mind my Boker recommendation. The Spyderco Karambit is nice too. There's a couple for sale on the exchange, I believe. :D

Nevermind the Boker recommendation? Is the Spyderco Karambit that much better?

No I was joking because I forgot I had a spyderco karambit for sale in the exchange forum.

The boker is a fantastic bargain and a great knife.

mantis knives have a couple karambit models that are under $75 and are pretty decent. the company has kind of a bad reputation around these forums, but their karambits are pretty good for the price.

I would spend a little more and get a 5.11 Tarani CUB folding karambit. The new version 2.0 is worth the price.

Really? You think it won't do what it's designed to do? Is it really that wasteful??
As in self defense? I guess if you know how to use it. Without training, you'd probably be better served by a straighter blade.
Karambits started as a utility blade, and I think there are more useful karambit blade grinds and conventional hawkbills for utility.
The pic looks like a pain to sharpen, but if its bought for selfdefense, it probably won't matter.

I own the 154cm one as well as the s30v with gray frn and the tip of the one in s30v seems prone to bending. I'm not abusing it or anything and hell, my edc is a millie and have never had a problem with that tip:eek:. The steel just seems soft.

As karambit is purely for self defense, IMHO anything that doesnt break down the moment you use it is sufficient. You don't need excellent edge holding ability for a tool designed for engagements measured in minutes, even seconds. Get the cheapest you can find from a reputable manufacturer.
