Who makes the best crossbar-style lock, in your opinion?

Right now I'm looking at Benchmade's Axis, Spyderco's CBBL, and Microtech's Ram-Lok. A truly ambidextrous knife sounds like a good idea. I usually play in the liner/frame lock end of the pool so I thought I'd come to BF and seek out a few opinions. I'm looking for reliability and strength over the need to be fidget-friendly, although ease-of-use seems to be inherent to the lock design.

Generally Benchmade’s has proven to be stronger than Spyderco or Microtech’s offerings (which really arent actual crossbar locks).

Hogue’s knives seem similar to Benchmade, and I’d be interested in trying one of theirs out.

I'm not a big fan of cross bar locks, but I have examples from both Benchmade and Hogue. I don't notice any difference in functionality between them. I don't fidget with knives; I just use them.

I've heard that if the ramp angle on the tang is machined at the wrong angle, the lock can be unstable. I've not had any such problems.

two Buck ranges I have gotten are better than every benchmade I own on solid lockup with no play.
Waiting for the Range Pro line to arrive in Calgary; so far it's been only the Elites, and those have been sold out at my fave brick & mortar knife store. My Buck Custom Shop 110 (nickle silver, elk grips, Magnacut) is terrific so I'm not considering the Elite. I'd like to try the CM-154 in the Pro offering. Plus, I don't care for aluminum handles.

For a guy your size, I'm thinking ZT0203 or Amphibian 😁
