Who makes the best crossbar-style lock, in your opinion?

That’s definitely well done, though it might be a shade on the small side for Bigfoot up there. I have a Hogue Deka that also feels very nice, though it took me two sets of scales to get it where I really like it. Oh yeah, almost forgot Mr. Osborne and his little brother. Come to think of it, I haven had a bad one of these - they all lock up solid and operate easily enough. That new Buck Range Elite is next on my list.

I’d say the brand and model don’t need to be a consideration as far as the lock is concerned; go with whatever tickles you best.
I had a Hogue deka with side play i couldn't adjust out, but im glad your example was solid

Right now I'm looking at Benchmade's Axis, Spyderco's CBBL, and Microtech's Ram-Lok. A truly ambidextrous knife sounds like a good idea. I usually play in the liner/frame lock end of the pool so I thought I'd come to BF and seek out a few opinions. I'm looking for reliability and strength over the need to be fidget-friendly, although ease-of-use seems to be inherent to the lock design.
For "reliability and strength" , the Tri-ad lock is king .

For "still strong enough" but much more fidgety , I love the Atlas , Demko Shark , and the Sneck Superlock .

Easier, faster and funner , for me to manipulate than any other , especially left handed .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

2nd choice would be Manix2 ball bearing lock . But I have some trouble ,left handed ,with those . Overall great knives !

When I replaced the scales (a real pain in the ass both times), it was very easy to mis-adjust the pivot one way or the other. A hair of a turn either way was either too stiff to easily operate, or too loose with blade play. Of all the knives I’ve fiddled with, that one was the most persnickety. But I did find that happy place after a little fussing … and a lot of cussing. It doesn’t get used much, but I like it enough that it’s still a keeper.

Also to be fair, the caged ball bearing lock on the Spydercos is also not a cross-bar lock.
To be fair, he said “ crossbar style lock “.

Out of what I’ve experienced Spyderco seems the strongest.
The Hogue is more fidget fun.
I think the lock type is easy and opens the door for more users.

While not a cross-bar lock, you do mention CBBL .... I recommend the XL for big hands. Great cutter, safe lock, available in Cruwear, large enough, good support & no politics:

Oooof. Painfully good.

My favorite would be on Benchmade-Crooked River . I have this knife for 3 years now, cross bar lock is still solid and never let me down!

Yikes! I stepped away for a bit and come back to find I used confusing language. I guess by "crossbar-style" I meant a lock that's actuated on a slider, pinched between finger and thumb. As I said in the OP, I'm new to this area of pocket knives. Much obliged for all the input so far!
