I have a Gerber Sportsman's saw which impresses me with it's light weight, but it has always seemed a little fragile to me. I have a Gerber Exchange-a-Blade on order to test-- it looks a little tougher.

What is your favorite folding saw?

What do you think of the collapsing bow saws like the Sven saw and Trailblazer

Has anyone used one of the Dandy Saws? Going this route, is a "tool box" carpenter's saw practical?

I "discovered" Silky Saws while surfing on the subject. Really interesting stuff. They have one folding saw with a 14" blade-- NINJA PRUNER!

I've been using a Sven saw around seven years or better now and I can't complain.

I have a Trail blazer. Solid lockup, can cut deeply because it's an H frame, the 18" is a good size and light. Only issue is that the blade is non-standard with plastic nubs at the ends. For smaller stuff i use a fiskars sliding pruning saw, sharp 6" blade, only a few ounces, non replaceable blade but at $12, so what?

I have a pocket chainsaw. It's very high quality, made in the USA and priced well too.

I use saw from gerber and Fiskars, (practicly the same) And I won't go any other way, great cutters.

Thanks, Fonly --- do you know the model? Is it the one that slides open or folds?

haha, one of both, the older folding version from gerber and the teloscopic one from fiskars.

Gerber slider saw. But I'd love to get a Bahco Laplander, those look great.

Another vote for the laplander.

Here's a little heads up to anybody who wants a laplander the Kershaw Folding Saw is the SAME SAW, made by bahco for kershaw, they are of different colour but the same product. You can get them for cheaper and are more readily available in north america. ;)

I've used a Silky F180 with coarse teeth and found it to be very effective, but I haven't compared it to any other saws like it. I included it in my big axe/knife/saw comparison a while back, though.

There's a priceless bit of info. The Kershaws are all over the place and more like $22. Weight is listed as 6.4oz.

Thanks for the tip!

Another here for Silky Saw. I use them avidly as a finish carpenter and I'll swear by the Gomboy for a pack saw.

I carry and use the SANDVIK Bahco Laplander. It is a geat saw, you will be very happy with it.
