Yes, noticed you mentioning. Was the FS though, as you point out.
Both supposed to be excellent IIRC.

Not if they do them in steel with greater than 13% chromium. That first Spartan pic has been posted in several threads in the last few months, don't know if I can resist much longer...
Looks like I'm gonna have to start stabbing people since I can't buy a knife I don't need / have a purpose for / wouldn't EDC.
Also Spartan Blades is a pretty kick ass company too, of you're into supporting US veteran owned small businesses who excell in their fields and all. Can't remember, are those things all things we like here at BF?
The Spartan V14 may be what you're looking for.

Blues, my reservoir of reasons for not buying one of these is drying up and running dangerously low.
Gonna blow the living hell out of my New Years resolution to avoid impulse knife buys.
But by the time I grab this thing, it will have been a calculated knife buy, I suppose... so all will be well.
Johnny Canuck, if you fear that the Spartan won't hold up to your needs, don't buy it. Really, really simple.

Carbon steel lacks the lateral strength of titanium. We're talking minutia as far a dagger goes. Modern stainless is just fine, though I do perfer carbon mostly for sharpenabilityHi, the Spartan is stainless, therefore, lacks lateral strength, so I would not be interested in it. Should be carbon.
Thank you,

You were actually considering an Extrema Ratio product, even as a knife enthusiast? Weird. The Adra would be one of the few daggers I would be cautious about: I know they are not meant for throwing, but the buttcap construction is odd:

By the way, the RAO this tester also tested (in another video) was a real one, not a copy. I confirmed it to my satisfaction from details on the handle compared to the known copies. This guy is quite reasonable in his tests, and he really saved me hundreds.

Hello fellows,
Thanks for participating! Since I have several of you here, may I broaden my question as follows:
Which dagger would you acquire for purposes of self-defence?
Thank you,

That statement is totally untrue. We have something today called modern steel. It was only in the now fairly distant past that stainless blades did not make durable blades.
Infact I wouldn’t be surprised if those modern stainless daggers are way more laterally durable than the original v42. (Notorious for it’s weak point)
Most the modern replicas of the v42 and ww2 daggers are poorly made and display pieces first. The best ww2 dagger replica being made is IMHO probably the Hill Knives Fairbairn Sykes replicas. These are truly ready for the battlefield.

Lapedog, do you own one of those Hill Knives Commando Daggers? Like many on this thread regarding the Spartan V14 dagger, I have been resisting the urge to purchase one of the Hill Knives daggers. I am just curious to know how the purchase went? I have never purchased a knife from across the pond before and am not sure if the transaction is smooth and the same as any other purchase. Any ideas on lead times with those folks? They appear to all be handmade. Thanks for the help either way!
