Who makes this Parang/Machette?

nipsplitter, isn't this the same blade used in the movie "Book of Eli?" Looks similar.

^ The "Eli" version is straighter and narrower, designed more as a fighter/sword I believe.

The more detailed differences are the "holes", guard and handles as well.

Based on the 5 holes in that blade I'd say that the "Eli" is just a cheaper copy of the HIRO Machete.

There are lot's of them and since I have the HIRO myself it is easy to see why - it is a VERY pretty blade with a lot of sweeping curves and beautifully polished. Someone at the factory in Japan is doing some excellent grinding work.

Yes, I also noticed one or two "interesting" things there when I bought that machete. I may have to have one of those Japanese knives for my collection.
