Who Makes Your Favorite Serrations?

Hi guys,

Would like to start out by saying I'm not really a partially-serrated guy. I buy mostly plain edge. I used to be into partially serrated when I first got into knives, but moved on rather quickly. I have some decent partially-serrated knives but they don't see much use.

Having said all that, and knowing a lot of us here prefer PE knives, I am sure we have a lot of members that make us of PS or maybe even FS knives.

Those of you into serrations, what company makes your favorite serrations and why so? Just curious.

Veff serrations are the best, but I'm not a fan. I gave away my only combo edge blade away about two years ago. The knife was a CRKT Mini My Tighe.

All of my knives are either plain edge or fully serrated. Plain edge to cut everything but fibrous stuff. Serrated to cut fibrous stuff. Combo edge knives don't do either function worth a damn.

The best serrations I've used are spyderco. Cold Steel's serrations suck mighty hard. They are too small to work right, they clog up with material easily, and they are nearly impossible to sharpen. I hate them so much I ground em off of a vaquero I used to have.

Veff for looks and Spyderco for functionality.

ps. Eventhough they are functional , I hate the looks of the ZT serrations

veff, adds a tad of style for anyone looking for a sharp grin.

but the overly large serrations found on the otanashi noh ken just kills the overall appearance of the blade.
while it may work, i guess serrations do not necessarily enhance the look of every design...

ESEE MIL 3 with partial serrations, and the Spyderco Delica with partial serrations and sabre grind.

I like shallow serrations like benchmade uses. They are effective and easy to sharpen. Like you, I've gotten away from serrations.

I like the Kershaw/ZT scalloped serrations, as well as Emerson's "Dragon's Teeth" serrations.

If I get serrations, I'll get full serrations to get the full benefit of it since partial serrations are always on the most used part of the blade.

The best that I have used so far are leatherman's

I'm not really into serrations that much but the ones on my Spyderco Civilian (which I bought in a moment of temporary insanity) are absolutely amazing.

Dpx gear serrations on the t3 and veff serrations on crkt m21, but prefer placement on Winkler knives and Andrew Jordan knives on the spine
